Job summary

LCRA is seeking a highly motivated professional to join the System Protection & Controls (SCADA) group. You will install, commission, maintain and repair SCADA monitoring and control equipment across substations, supporting operations, engineering, and customers.

The role emphasizes testing, troubleshooting, and programming SCADA and communication systems, with opportunities for overtime and overnight lodging. A degree in a related field and 5+ years of experience are preferred.

Qualifications

• Five or more years of experience in construction and/or maintenance of power substation protection, SCADA, diagnostic, metering, monitoring and/or control systems.
• A degree in electrical power theory, electronics, instrumentation, controls, computer science or relevant field may be substituted per LCRA guidelines for certain years of experience.
• Driver's license

• Coordinate and manage complex projects involving LCRA System Operations, Generation, LCRA Engineering, LCRA Telecommunications, and LCRA Network Services.
• Serves as field point of contact for all SCADA related coordination.
• Performs complex testing, installation and maintenance of SCADA systems including RTUs, input/output signal hardware, controllers, HMI, networks, communication, database and software.
• Provides expertise in the monitoring, troubleshooting, and programming of the SCADA and communication systems.

The LCRA System Protection & Controls (SCADA) group is actively searching for a highly motivated individual to join our skilled team. As part of our team, you will perform work in various substations located across the LCRA service territory installing, commissioning, maintaining and repairing SCADA monitoring and control equipment. The ideal candidate provides technical support to systems operations, LCRA design and maintenance engineering groups and customers in the development and implementation of SCADA systems. This position develops competence by performing structured work assignments and receives instruction, guidance and direction from a supervisor, manager and/or more experienced colleagues. The position is full time with some overnight lodging. There is also the possibility of overtime and call out on nights and weekends.

• Knowledge of substation equipment.
• Knowledge of electrical control, metering and protective relaying schemes.
• Knowledge of Remote Terminal Units, Revenue Meters and Protective Relays.
• Knowledge of network/LAN operations.
• Knowledge of communications protocols (ex: Harris, Modbus, SEL and DNP 3.0).
