Job summary

R.E. Mason is seeking a skilled Automation Engineer to join the Factory Automation and PLC Services Team in Charlotte, NC. You will develop, deliver, and commission PLC-based control systems for industrial customers, collaborating with a Tech Lead and supporting lifecycle services.

The role requires PLC/HMI/SCADA expertise, experience with Emerson VersaMax/PACSystems, Allen-Bradley, Siemens, and a strong ability to document designs and configurations. Travel ~25% to NC/SC/VA is expected.

Qualifications

• BS degree in engineering or related field.
• 3+ years of relevant experience in factory automation.
• Experience configuring PLC/HMI/SCADA systems.
• Experience with Emerson VersaMax/PACSystems, Allen-Bradley and Siemens.
• Proficiency with Studio 5000 Logix Designer and HMIs/SCADA apps.

Responsibilities

• Configure, troubleshoot, and maintain PLCs for OEM skids and custom equipment.
• Configure SCADA solutions and historians; integrate to 3rd party systems.
• Develop system documentation including functional and design specs.
• Support FAT/SAT, start-up and commissioning activities at customer sites.
• Travel in NC, SC, VA – ~25%.
• Develop scope and specifications for new station equipment installations.
• Review vendor design packages to ensure design compliance.
• Migrate PLC programming to Emerson Rx3i and modify GE iFIX databases.
• Create/modify graphics for HMIs (Emerson QP+, GE iFIX).
• Assist with loop checks, testing, and startup support.
