Job summary

Oshkosh Corporation seeks a SCADA/MES Developer at our Jefferson City, TN facility to design, develop, and support Ignition and Sepasoft applications that power our manufacturing lines.

As a SCADA/MES Developer at our New Jefferson City facility, you won't just be maintaining systems—you will be part of a team designing the digital backbone that keeps our production lines moving efficiently and integrating next‑gen technologies like AMRs. The SCADA/MES Developer will be responsible for developing, enhancing, and supporting the SCADA (Ignition) and MES (Sepasoft) applications supporting manufacturing operations at the Jefferson City, TN facility. This individual will support SCADA/MES enhancements, integrations, and daily production system uptime. The role will work closely with manufacturing, engineering, and quality teams to develop reliable digital manufacturing solutions, troubleshoot production issues, and continuously improve plant‑floor systems and applications.

YOUR IMPACT
  • Develop, configure, enhance, and support SCADA/MES applications using Ignition 8.1 and Sepasoft 3.81.
  • Develop and maintain Ignition Perspective screens, views, and application functionality supporting manufacturing operations.
  • Develop and modify manufacturing applications using Python/Jython.
  • Develop SQL Server scripting and understand database fundamentals to support application development and data management.
  • Support Sepasoft MES applications, including Batch, Document Management, OEE, and Settings & Changeover.
  • Provide hands‑on production support for SCADA/MES systems to help maintain system availability and minimize production downtime.
  • Troubleshoot system issues, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions for production‑impacting applications.
  • Partner with manufacturing personnel to understand requirements and develop solutions that improve production efficiency, visibility, quality, and data availability.
  • Develop and support integrations between SCADA/MES applications and other manufacturing systems and technologies.
  • Optimize and manage MQTT‑based data collection and Unified Namespace (UNS) architectures, including solutions utilizing HighByte.
  • Optimize and manage manufacturing data collection and analysis utilizing GE Historian and TimeBase Historian.
  • Support integrations with autonomous mobile robots (AMRs – fleet +/-150 units) and other plant‑floor technologies.
  • Support the development of functional specifications, test cases, technical documentation, and deployment plans.
  • Participate in application testing, implementation, upgrades, and continuous improvement activities.
  • Support an enterprise‑to‑site Sepasoft architecture and the deployment and configuration of site‑level MES functionality.
  • Collaborate with internal and external personnel in the design, development, implementation, and support of manufacturing technology solutions for Enterprise and Site applications.
  • Follow established standards for application security, data integrity, change management, backup/recovery, and system support.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Development and production support experience with Ignition and Sepasoft.
  • 2+ years of hands‑on experience developing or supporting SCADA, MES, manufacturing applications, or related industrial technology (Ignition and Sepasoft strongly preferred).
  • Experience developing in Ignition using Python and working with Microsoft SQL Server databases and scripting.
  • Experience developing or supporting Ignition Perspective applications.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills in a production environment.
  • Ability to work effectively with manufacturing, engineering, IT, and other business stakeholders.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
STANDOUT QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience with Sepasoft Batch, Document Management, OEE, and Settings & Changeover modules.
  • Experience with HighByte and Unified Namespace (UNS) architectures.
  • Experience with GE Historian and/or TimeBase Historian.
  • Manufacturing experience, particularly within assembly operations.
  • Experience with fabrication or paint is also beneficial.
  • Familiarity with PLCs and industrial automation systems.
  • Experience integrating SCADA/MES systems with AMRs or other autonomous manufacturing technologies.
  • Experience with MQTT and VDA 5050 standards and integrations.
  • Experience utilizing REST APIs, JSON, web services, or other system integration technologies.
  • Experience with source control and code repositories such as GitHub.
  • Experience with Jira/Confluence or similar tools for work management, deployment, and documentation.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, Automation or a related field.

Pay Range: $82,900.00 - $134,300.00 The above pay range reflects the minimum and maximum target pay for the position across all U.S. locations. Within this range, individual pay is determined by various factors, including the scope and responsibilities of the role, the candidate's experience, education and skills, as well as the equity of pay among team members in similar positions.
