Job summary

Frederick County Government is seeking a SCADA Systems Engineer to support SCADA system administration across water and sewer utilities. The role focuses on reliable operations, system updates, network communications, and data management for the county’s critical infrastructure.

The position requires a Bachelor’s degree in a related field and at least 7 years of SCADA experience, with substitutions possible for a Master’s degree.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
• Master’s degree with 5 years of experience may substitute for the required education.
• Experience implementing and maintaining SCADA systems and related automation infrastructure.

Responsibilities

• Process automation control applications used in production, treatment, storage and transmission of water and wastewater.
• Maintains, inspects, troubleshoots, tests, repairs, and installs SCADA, PLC/HMI, and process automation.
• Monitors SCADA system performance and integrity; coordinates with technicians and contractors.
• Designs PLC, HMI, and SCADA screens; develops SCADA reports and data extracts.
• Maintains documentation for processes, software versions, licensing and procedures.
• Collaborates with IT and governance teams on network security assessments and policies.
• Manages SCADA updates, expansions, upgrades and network communications.
• Ensures inventory of system devices, software and licenses; performs maintenance tasks.
