Job summary

Coalesce Management Consulting is seeking an experienced Protection & Control Engineer with a strong background in protective relay programming, substation automation, SCADA integration, and industrial communications.

The role covers the full digital substation architecture—from protective relays and IEDs to RTUs, gateways, and SCADA/HMI systems—plus hands-on relay programming and integration. Hybrid work: onsite Tue–Thu in the New York City area; relocation to NYC is required.

Qualifications

  • 8+ years of experience in Protection & Control, Substation Automation, SCADA, or Substation Controls.
  • Strong hands-on experience programming/configuring protective relays.
  • Strong understanding of utility communication protocols and industrial networking.
  • Utility, transmission, distribution, or substation experience strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Program, configure, test, and troubleshoot protective relays and IEDs.
  • Configure relay settings, logic, controls, I/O, and communications.
  • Integrate relays/IEDs with RTUs, RTACs, gateways, and data concentrators.
  • Configure and troubleshoot DNP3, IEC 61850, Modbus, TCP/IP, and serial communications.
  • Support SCADA and HMI integration.
  • Configure and troubleshoot industrial networking and Ethernet switches.
  • Support testing, commissioning, validation, and troubleshooting of P&C and substation automation systems.
  • Work across the complete communication path from field devices to the SCADA/master system.

Coalesce Management Consulting is seeking an experienced Protection & Control Engineer with a strong background in protective relay programming, substation automation, SCADA integration, and industrial communications.

About the Role

This role requires someone who understands the complete digital substation architecture - from protective relays and IEDs through RTUs/data concentrators and communications networks to SCADA/HMI systems.

Responsibilities

Pay range and compensation package

Work Arrangement: Hybrid - onsite Tuesday through Thursday; remote Monday and Friday. Relocation to the New York City area is required.
