Maintenance Trade Helper (BAFB-2025-22839):

Bowhead seeks multiple Maintenance Trade Helpers interested in part-time/on-call employment to support the base telecommunications maintenance and support contract at Beale AFB, CA.

Responsibilities
Job duties include but are not limited to:

• Assist in maintaining ISP and OSP cable and equipment as specified in contractual requirements.
• Perform preventive maintenance inspections (PMIs) and scheduled tests on telephone switches, UPS, and backup power systems.
• Document test results to ensure compliance with OEM specifications and contractual standards.
• Report issues and trends to the Contracting Officer’s Representative (COR) within one workday.
• Inspect and maintain maintenance holes, handholes, and building terminals, ensuring cables are tagged, ducts are sealed, and debris is cleared.
• Update the Communication Vault and Conduit (CVC) database with accurate information.
• Perform system cross-connect and disconnect services as part of O&M requirements.
• Conduct cable analysis, review records, identify bad pairs, determine fill rates, and report findings.
• Locate, stake, and mark buried conduits or cables for emergency, priority, or routine needs.
• Maintain detailed records of inspections, maintenance, and repairs for government review.
• Support cable installation and repair activities, documenting test results and updating the CVC database.
• Respond to emergencies, outages, and alerts, providing 24/7 services as needed.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to inspect maintenance holes, handholes, and terminals, ensuring proper tagging, sealing, and cleanliness.
• Physical ability to climb ladders, pull cables, lift heavy lids, load materials, communicate clearly, operate a vehicle, distinguish colors, and work in tight spaces.
• Intermediate to advanced skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
• Effective communication skills with all levels of staff and external contacts.
• Strong interpersonal skills and good judgment, with the ability to work independently or in a team.

Physical Demands:

• Lift up to 50 pounds.
• Stand and walk for extended periods.
• Twist, bend, and squat periodically.

Security Clearance: A National Agency Check is required; no Secret clearance needed as there is no AFnet access.
