Job Description
In this role, you will directly support the Combat and Integration and Identification Systems Division (IDS) located in Saint Inigoes, MD (NAVAIR Webster Air Field), performing a wide variety of electronics-based tasks in support of the U.S. Navy's Fleet Modernization Program and the ISEA for the AN/UPX-29(V) Identification Friend or Foe (IFF) system.
Sample Tasks:
- Inspecting, testing, and certifying basic circuit boards and systems for compliance with system test requirements.
- Troubleshooting malfunctions using applicable drawings, electronics theory, and test equipment such as multimeters, cable testers, oscilloscopes, and synchro testers.
- Traveling to locations such as San Diego, CA; Rota, Spain; Yokosuka, Japan; Norfolk, VA; Mayport, FL, and more.
- Performing IFF system assessments like ALOA, CSSQT, and MCA.
- Supporting IFF Mode 5 and Mode S system upgrades on Navy ships or land-based sites.
- Responding to On Board Technical Assistance (OBTA) calls.
- Communicating professionally with ship's force, government customers, and project leads.
- Teaching and assisting IFF technicians of all skill levels with a positive attitude and a focus on growth.

Compensation and Benefits:
The hourly rate is set by the Department of Labor at $32.92/hr.

Minimum Requirements:
- High School diploma and at least 3 years of related experience.
- Ability to read engineering drawings, work instructions, and test procedures.
- Ability to climb aboard Navy vessels and lift heavy objects.
- Basic electronic theory knowledge.
- Experience troubleshooting electronic systems and aligning electronic equipment.
- Experience with basic electronic test equipment such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, megohmmeters, synchro testers, and VSWR testers.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with shipboard, aircraft, or ground-based IFF systems.
- Navy NEC certifications related to IFF systems or equivalent.
- Computer troubleshooting and maintenance skills.
- Certified Solder Technician and Quality Assurance Inspector.
- Cable fabrication certification.
- Knowledge of ISO 9000 standards, Lean Six Sigma, OSHA maritime training, and fleet modernization processes.
Additional Information:
This position is covered by the McNamara-O'Hara Service Contract Act (SCA). The wage range is determined by the Department of Labor.
