Job summary

Meijer Inc. is seeking a Maintenance Technician to improve, maintain, and repair equipment used in manufacturing, production, and packaging.

Thorough root cause analysis aids in troubleshooting electrical, mechanical, and process issues, while a proactive continuous improvement approach ensures peak equipment efficiency. You will support planning, scheduling, and maintenance activities, maintain water treatment and boiler systems, and uphold regulatory records.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Experience in electrical, mechanical, and process troubleshooting preferred.
• Understanding of SQF, GMPs, LOTO, 5S, and Lean Manufacturing processes is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Supports planning, scheduling, and maintenance activities.
• Maintains water treatment, distribution systems, boilers, and compressed air equipment.
• Keeps regulatory and compliance records for all systems.
• Performs routine and emergency maintenance of multi-craft utility systems including PLCs and electrical work.
• Ensures Preventive Maintenance and on-time work orders.
• Performs other duties as required by the Maintenance Manager.
• Adheres to 200% safety accountability for self and others.

Improves, maintains, and repairs all equipment used in manufacturing, production, and packaging functions. Thorough root cause analysis helps troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, and process issues. Utilizes a proactive continuous improvement methodology to ensure maximum equipment operating efficiency and effectiveness.

What You'll be Doing:

• Supports planning, scheduling, and maintenance activities.
• Proactively maintains all water treatment and distribution systems, on-demand boiler functions, and equipment, including process water system, boilers, and compressed air.
• Regulatory and compliance record keeping for all systems.
• Perform routine and emergency maintenance (major and minor) of utility systems in multi-craft environments, including PLCs, instrumentation, mechanical, electrical (480VAC, 220/240VAC, 120/208VAC, 24VDC), and general equipment repair.
• Responsible for Preventive Maintenance (PM) and on-time work order completion.
• Perform other duties as required by the Maintenance Manager.
• Practices 200% safety accountability in self and others.

What You Bring with You (Qualifications):

• High School diploma/GED required.
• Related technical field experience and or certification preferred.
• Understanding of electrical schematics and ability to troubleshoot/repair electrical circuits and controls is required.
• 3-5 years of hands-on maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Previous maintenance experience in a food manufacturing setting is preferred.
• The ability to work in a cold environment is required.
• Knowledge of manufacturing, production, packaging, and labeling equipment.
• Ability to demonstrate a high level of troubleshooting, comprehension, and operational experience.
• Knowledge and experience with Safe Quality Foods (SQF), Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), Lock Out/Tag Out (LOTO), 5S, and Lean Manufacturing processes.
• Knowledge and skill of MIG, TIG, fabrication, joining, and repair of varieties of metals, including stainless steel for food-grade applications, various production equipment, and structures.
