Our Team is Growing:

Provides support to relationship managers and SBA Specialists with the servicing/portfolio management of commercial Government Guaranteed loans (SBA 7A, USDA, SSBCI & 504) to ensure compliance with specific government guidelines and bank lending policies and practices. Performs portfolio management activities including reviews, renewals, and modifications of Government Guaranteed loans. Responsible for maintaining and adhering to credit quality goals established for the portfolio. Supports Credit Officer/Team Leader with the management of Portfolio Managers and Credit Analysts. Reviews existing small business loans to ensure that acceptable credit standards are maintained and conform to policy.

Responsible and accountable for risk by openly exchanging ideas and opinions, elevating concerns, and personally following policies and procedures as defined. Ensures actions and behaviors drive a positive customer experience. Achieves results by identifying, assessing, managing, monitoring, and reporting risks of all types within the Bank's risk appetite.

A Day in the Life:

  1. Assist in overseeing the integrity of the existing GGL portfolio.
  2. Ensure exceptional client support is provided to the client base.
  3. Analyze SBA servicing requests and provide loan decisions/recommendations based on review of all necessary information.
  4. Underwrite reviews, SBA servicing requests, and new money requests, ensuring compliance with loan policy, SBA SOP, and credit quality standards.
  5. Review and decide on small business loan application credits up to approved loan authority.
  6. Ensure timely processing of SBA servicing requests and meet department SLAs and performance standards.
  7. Perform monitoring, review, and ongoing servicing for Government Guaranteed loan products per government guidelines.
  8. Maintain ongoing financial analysis of SBA relationships and communicate material changes, making recommendations for increased monitoring.
  9. Perform risk grade changes to support current information.
  10. Assist in identifying and analyzing Key Risk Indicators to detect activity and emerging risks/trends.
  11. Monitor financial performance and compliance with covenants for existing loans, taking appropriate action on non-compliant or past-due accounts.
  12. Review current account status, including past due accounts and matured notes, and make recommendations.
  13. Oversee and analyze SBA Watch List accounts and reports.
  14. Maintain knowledge of Government Guaranteed Lending products SOPs/guidelines and credit policies.
  15. Review loan portfolio for compliance with laws and regulations, recommending updates as needed.
  16. Suggest improvements to lending policies and procedures.
  17. Perform other assignments as needed.

Supervisory Skills:

May provide leadership and supervision to junior underwriters, credit analysts, and leadership program participants.

Our Newest Teammate Will Have:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field preferred, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of commercial credit and GGL government loan guarantee program experience.
  • Strong understanding of credit policy & procedures; ability to risk-rate credit and evaluate cash-flow and collateral-based loans.
  • Strong decision-making and organizational skills; detail-oriented and able to multi-task.
  • Ability to work effectively in a high-volume environment and prioritize workflow.
  • Ability to work independently within a team-oriented environment.
  • Contribute to ongoing process improvement.
  • Proficient in Bank systems (AFS, ACE, Mobius) and Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Normal office environment with minimal exposure to dust, noise, temperature, etc.
  • Extended time at desk and/or viewing computer screens.
