Job description

Overview: Liberty SBF, a leading provider of SBA and Conventional loans for owner-occupied commercial real estate, is seeking a seasoned Business Development Officer to lead the origination of SBA 504 and Conventional CRE loans. This high-impact role is designed for a results-driven professional with a proven track record in wholesale business development, specifically in SBA and commercial real estate lending. You will leverage Liberty SBF's competitive pricing, strong product offerings, and broker-friendly compensation model to drive deal flow and originate new business across various property types.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute a robust wholesale business development strategy, targeting CRE brokers, referral partners, and financial intermediaries.
  • Identify and cultivate relationships with key brokers and referral sources within the commercial real estate sector.
  • Originate SBA 504 and Conventional loans for owner-occupied commercial properties, focusing on mixed-use, industrial, office, and special-use property types (assisted living, hospitality, self-storage, etc.).
  • Maintain a deep understanding of Liberty SBF’s SBA and Conventional loan products, including competitive pricing, borrower requirements, and underwriting standards.
  • Manage the loan origination process from prospecting through to close, ensuring an exceptional borrower experience.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, including underwriting, legal, and closing, to ensure loans meet Liberty SBF’s risk and credit criteria.
  • Stay current on industry trends, market conditions, and regulatory changes that impact SBA and CRE lending.
  • Participate in deal review calls and ensure alignment with the company's strategic goals and performance metrics.

Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of business development experience in SBA and/or conventional commercial real estate lending, with a demonstrated ability to originate deals.
  • Established network of brokers and referral partners within the commercial real estate industry.
  • Strong understanding of SBA 504 and conventional loan products, underwriting standards, and market conditions.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships.
  • Self-motivated with a drive to exceed performance targets and achieve high compensation levels.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, or a related field (MBA preferred but not required).

Compensation and Benefits:

  • Base Salary: $125,000 - $150,000
  • Total Compensation: Estimated between $500,000 and $750,000, driven by a highly competitive commission structure.
