Job summary

West Fraser, a diversified North American wood products company, seeks a Maintenance & QC Electrician for our on-site mill team. You will perform repairs, PMs, and electrical maintenance across the sawmill, ensuring electrical reliability and quality control checks.

The role requires troubleshooting DC drives, PLCs, and drive systems, with a focus on safety and adherence to lock-out procedures. Weekend work and overtime are expected as part of shift coverage.

Qualifications

• Must meet minimum testing standards for Maintenance.
• Preferably have a 2-year degree in Electrical/Electronics or equivalent electrical/electronic courses.
• Must successfully complete company-required training courses.
• Must have a good working knowledge of PC's and PLC's.
• 2-years experience or more in electrical troubleshooting and repair.

Responsibilities

• The mill Electrician is responsible for repairs, maintenance, and PM's to the electronic components of the mill.
• Runs electrical mill trouble calls millwide and ensures lumber sizing and trim targets.
• Navigate controls, equipment, and optimization-related issues with vendors (USNR, Comact, Porter, Baxley).
• Perform general mechanical maintenance work and assist production tasks as assigned.
• Understand PLC logic, drive-related issues, and electronics concerns impacting the mill.
• Monitor mechanical and electrical systems and log PQC shift reports.
• Assist in new installations as necessary.
