Job summary

Lonestar State College in Manheim, PA is seeking a Saw Operator to join the Machine Shop. This non-exempt, full-time role operates the electric band saw, shear, punch press, NC ironworker, and handles steel preparation for machining or welding.

You will cut steel, remove rust, load/unload trucks, and maintain safety and housekeeping while meeting quality standards. Must read blueprints, use measuring tools, and operate forklifts and material handling equipment.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or acceptable equivalent.
• Ability to speak, read, write and understand English.
• Must be able to use a tape measure, ruler and calipers.
• Able to safely operate a forklift and other material handling equipment.
• Ability to understand simple blueprints.
• Able to perform simple lay-out work.

Responsibilities

• Operate metal cutting band saw to cut steel prior to machining.
• Clean and remove rust and debris from steel using an electric angle grinder.
• Assist with loading and unloading trucks.
• Use material handling equipment to place steel into storage racks.
• Maintain the saw and area around the saw.
• Program and operate NC ironworker.
