Blue Skies Consulting is expanding its data practice and is seeking a SAP Data Migration Lead to manage data migration teams for SAP S/4HANA migrations across client ecosystems in the United States.

Qualifications

Expanding Practice:

We are expanding our data practice and looking for data migration experts who are interested in growing their career by working on large scale data-heavy transformation projects and being a part of a growing data practice. To be successful in this role you need to be comfortable with delivering best in class data migration and readiness services. Specifically, we are looking for an SAP Data Migration Lead to manage the data migration team responsible for identifying, extracting, cleaning, mapping, loading both the master data & transactional data from multiple sources into the target SAP S4 system. The Data Readiness Lead provides leadership, direction, and guidance to senior level client stakeholders and is a subject matter specialist across the SAP data migration suite of services. The Data Readiness Lead will be client facing and should have 10-15 years' experience in deploying SAP Data Migrations and extensively skilled in the Syniti application.

Responsibilities:

• Assessment and Planning: Collaborate with clients and internal teams to understand data migration requirements. Assess existing data systems and identify potential challenges and opportunities. Develop comprehensive migration plans, including timelines, resource requirements, and risk mitigation strategies
• Data Mapping and Transformation: Analyze source and target data structures and values to create detailed data mapping documentation. Design and implement data transformation processes to ensure data accuracy and integrity during migration. Work with stakeholders to validate and refine data transformation rules
• Execution and Monitoring: Execute data migration processes according to the established plans and timelines. Monitor and troubleshoot migration activities, addressing issues promptly to minimize downtime. Employ an iterative approach to migration that accounts for data and business rule changes throughout the project lifecycle. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure a seamless transition
• Quality Assurance: Conduct thorough testing of migrated data to verify accuracy and completeness. Develop and implement data validation and reconciliation procedures. Collaborate with testing teams to ensure data quality meets defined standards
• Documentation and Reporting: Maintain detailed documentation of migration processes, data mappings, and transformation rules. Generate regular progress reports for stakeholders, highlighting key achievements and challenges
• Strategy & Planning: Define and own the end-to-end data migration strategy, scope, and cutover plan
• ETL & Execution: Lead technical teams in extracting, cleansing, transforming, and loading data using tools like SAP S/4HANA migration cockpit, Syniti, or LSMW
• Data Governance: Establish data quality KPIs, mapping rules, and validation/reconciliation procedures to ensure accuracy
• Stakeholder Management: Collaborate with functional teams and business stakeholders to resolve data issues and report progress
• Testing & Go-Live: Execute and manage mock loads, simulations, and final data cutover

The SAP Data Migration Lead oversees the end-to-end extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) of data from legacy systems to SAP (often S/4HANA). They define migration strategies, manage data quality/mapping, and lead technical teams through mock loads and cutover, ensuring data integrity, compliance, and minimal business disruption.

Experience and Skills:

• Experience: Proven experience (often 5+ years) in SAP implementation or migration projects
• Tools: Proficiency in SAP data migration tools (e.g., SAP S/4HANA Migration Cockpit, LTMC, EMIGALL)
• Technical Skills: Strong SQL skills, data mapping, and understanding of SAP data structures
• Leadership: Experience leading onshore/offshore teams and managing project milestones
• In-depth knowledge working with multiple data management, data transformation, data migration, ETL tools. Most importantly Syniti tools. (Others: MDM Informatica, Collibra, Talend, SAP Master Governance MDG, Reltio, SAP BODS)
• Proficiency in SQL, ETL processes, and data modeling
• Direct experience in applying project management and data management best practices to create tactical execution plans for cross-functional teams
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills. Demonstrated ability to clearly communicate complex technical subject matter in all formats (email, presentations, Excel based)
• This role combines critical thinking, leadership, and functional expertise to drive the success of the Data Readiness service while actively contributing to the customer's success
• High emotional intelligence and demonstrated ability to build and lead highly effective diverse and multi-cultural teams
• Experience with handling multiple data workstreams on a project, for example: data governance, data migration, master data management, data quality
• Expertise in driving data workshops, capturing data requirements and connecting with process/functional needs for the program
