Job summary

Cognizant is seeking an experienced SAP ABAP Developer to support large-scale SAP implementation and enhancement initiatives in Austin, TX. The role requires designing, developing, testing, and deploying SAP solutions across global business processes.

You will collaborate with business and technical stakeholders to deliver end-to-end SAP solutions, including ABAP reports, interfaces, and enhancements, while participating in design discussions and ensuring quality through SI/QA activities.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of professional experience in SAP ABAP Development.
• Strong experience developing Object-Oriented and Classical ABAP programs.
• Hands-on experience with Reports, Smart Forms, SAP Scripts, Web Dynpro, and IDOC Processing.
• Experience modifying and troubleshooting interfaces using ALE/IDOC, RFC, BAPI, and Flat File integrations.
• Strong ABAP development knowledge across Reports, Performance Tuning, IDOCs, Smart Forms, SAP Scripts, BADIs, User Exits, and Enhancements.

About the Role

Cognizant is seeking an experienced SAP ABAP Developer to support large-scale SAP implementation and enhancement initiatives. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in ABAP development, SAP integration technologies, custom application development, and end-to-end project delivery. This role involves collaborating with business and technical stakeholders to design, develop, test, and deploy SAP solutions that support global business processes.

In this role you will

• Design, develop, enhance, and support SAP ABAP solutions across multiple SAP modules.
• Develop Object-Oriented and Classical ABAP programs, Reports, Smart Forms, SAP Scripts, Web Dynpro applications, and IDOC interfaces.
• Build, enhance, and troubleshoot interfaces using ALE/IDOC, RFC, BAPI, Flat Files, Web Services, and OData Services.
• Participate in requirements gathering, solution design, prototyping, and technical architecture discussions.
• Create technical specifications, design documentation, and development artifacts.
• Develop custom enhancements using User Exits, BADIs, BTEs, Classical Enhancements, and the New Enhancement Framework.
• Support SAP upgrades, Enhancement Pack implementations, and SPAU/SPDD activities.
• Participate in design clarification meetings and assist with updating design documentation.
• Validate business requirements and provide recommendations to minimize project change requests.
• Coordinate with business and technical stakeholders throughout project execution.
• Realize technical specifications through configuration and development activities.
• Participate in design, process, and code reviews with project teams and key business users.
• Perform unit testing, defect resolution, and support integration testing, UAT, cutover, and go-live activities.
• Provide post-production support during warranty periods.
• Deliver regular status updates and proactively communicate risks, issues, and escalation needs.

What you need to have to be considered

• 6+ years of professional experience in SAP ABAP Development.
• Strong experience developing Object-Oriented and Classical ABAP programs.
• Hands-on experience with Reports, Smart Forms, SAP Scripts, Web Dynpro, and IDOC Processing.
• Experience modifying and troubleshooting interfaces using ALE/IDOC, RFC, BAPI, and Flat File integrations.
• Strong ABAP development knowledge across Reports, Performance Tuning, IDOCs, Smart Forms, SAP Scripts, BADIs, User Exits, and Enhancements.
• Hands-on SAP S/4HANA development experience.
• Strong expertise in Web Services and/or OData Services.
• Experience with SAP enhancement technologies including Classical Enhancements, BADIs, BTEs, and the New Enhancement Framework.
• Experience supporting SAP Enhancement Pack implementations.
• Strong understanding of Order-to-Cash (OTC) and Procure-to-Pay (P2P) business processes.
• Experience working on at least one full-cycle SAP implementation.
• Knowledge of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) methodologies.
• Experience supporting ECC integrations with Retail, APO, BW, TMS, CRM, and SNC systems.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work independently in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.

• Experience building custom SAP Web Dynpro applications integrated with SAP Portal.
• Experience developing custom FPM (Floorplan Manager) and POWL applications.

Salary and Other Compensation

The annual salary for this position is between $83,600 - $129,500 depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.

This position is also eligible for Cognizant's discretionary annual incentive program, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant's applicable plans.
