THORBEN CONSULTING is seeking a SAP ABAP BTP Developer with strong cloud engineering and DevOps capabilities to lead the development, integration, and deployment of scalable, secure SAP and cloud-based solutions. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a hybrid SAP and cloud-native environment—especially with AWS, Terraform, and Kubernetes technologies.

Key Responsibilities

SAP ABAP & BTP Development

• Design, develop, and maintain custom ABAP applications, enhancements, interfaces, and reports across SAP landscapes, including S/4HANA.
• Build cloud-ready extensions and integrations using SAP Business Technology Platform (BTP) and SAP Fiori/UI5.
• Leverage SAP Build Process Automation (BPA) to streamline workflows and drive operational efficiency.
• Collaborate closely with functional teams to translate business needs into secure, scalable SAP solutions.
• Uphold SAP development best practices, including code reviews, performance tuning, and thorough documentation.
• Architect and manage cloud infrastructure using Terraform, ensuring systems are reliable, secure, and cost-efficient.
• Operate and optimize AWS resources (EC2, S3, RDS, IAM, VPC) for high availability and performance.
• Deploy and manage Kubernetes clusters using Gardener for containerized SAP workloads.
• Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines with GitLab CI/CD, enhancing automation and deployment agility.
• Automate infrastructure and system tasks using scripting languages like Python, Bash, or PowerShell.
• Troubleshoot complex cloud and SAP performance issues, proactively enhancing system resilience.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of professional experience in both: SAP ABAP development (including BTP and Fiori), Cloud infrastructure engineering and DevOps practices (AWS, Terraform)
• Hands-on experience with SAP S/4HANA and SAP Cloud Platform
• Gardener Kubernetes and container orchestration
• CI/CD tooling and scripting languages (Python, Bash, or PowerShell)

Preferred Qualifications

• SAP or AWS certifications (e.g., SAP Certified ABAP Developer, AWS DevOps Engineer, AWS Solutions Architect)
• Experience with Ansible, CloudFormation, or HashiCorp Vault
• Proficiency in Linux system administration
• Familiarity with monitoring and logging solutions such as CloudWatch or the ELK Stack
