Job summary

The City of Pasadena, TX is hiring a sanitation worker to join our team. You will gather and carry garbage bags from yards along the route, operate the hoisting device to lift refuse bins, and dump bags into the truck body. You may also assist with recycling tasks and unloading at the dump site.

No formal education or prior experience is required. The job requires lifting up to 50 pounds, outdoor work in all weather, and the ability to spot hazards.

• Must be able to repeatedly lift up to 50 pounds.
• Must possess the visual ability to avoid obstacles and identify hazardous conditions.

Responsibilities

• Gathers and carries garbage bags from yards or locations along route and dumps bags onto truck.
• Starts hoisting device that rises refuse bin attached to rear of truck and dumps bags into opening in enclosed truck body.
• May gather separated recycling materials and dump them into recycling bins on garbage truck.
• Assist in unloading and cleaning garbage truck at dump site.
• May pick up loose trash with forks, shovel, or by hand and load into truck.
• May assist in operation of picker.
• May deliver garbage bags to individual houses by unloading bags from truck and carrying them to front yard.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain, without interruption, all necessary licenses, certifications, clearances, and/or job requirements.
• Works the assigned schedule and complies with the City's timekeeping and attendance policy.

Qualifications

No educational or prior experience requirements. Must be able to work outside in all types of weather; must be able to repeatedly lift up to 50 pounds, often while running or jogging; Must possess the visual ability to avoid obstacles and to identify hazardous conditions.

Salary: $14.50 per hour
