• Non-Exempt / Mandatory Testing

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED
• Ability to understand and follow oral/written instructions; work well with the public and co-workers
• Ability to lift heavy objects, work on scheduled holidays, and use a map to locate addresses
• Knowledge of safe operation and routine maintenance of equipment
• Possession and maintenance of a State of Florida Class B CDL license with air‑brake endorsement, or ability to obtain within six (6) months of hire

Brief Description of Duties

• Handles, carries, and empties receptacles containing solid waste
• Deposits waste into a collection vehicle and operates the compaction mechanism
• Reports vehicle mechanical problems to the driver, drives sanitation trucks to the transfer station, and rides on the external platform between collection stops
• Performs maintenance work on division premises, cleans sanitation vehicles, and identifies hazardous waste products
• Works occasional weekend shifts, when required
• Completes other related duties as assigned

Employment Requirements

• Background check, drug testing, and physical exam before employment
• Tasks involve regular and sustained physical exertion
• Possession of a current valid Florida driver’s license before employment
