Location Description

Wakefield is one of the largest production facilities within Michael Foods. We serve as a flex plant and are able to produce everything from a whole pasteurized egg to liquid, dried, hardboiled, and curds.


Responsibilities

Position Summary: This position is responsible for overall equipment cleanliness and sanitation of the assigned department area. It also involves complying with safety work rules at all times, reinforcing safety as a core value, and ensuring all policies related to food safety and quality are followed to reduce variability.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for overall equipment cleanliness and sanitation of the department area.
  • Perform daily, weekly, and monthly master sanitation schedules.
  • Follow daily production start-up procedures.
  • Cross-train in sanitation jobs.
  • Report equipment and mechanical problems.
  • Inspect areas using team efforts.
  • Follow plant goals proactively.
  • Reference the CP Manual for sanitation questions.
  • Handle chemicals such as caustics, acids, quats, bleach, and peracetic safely, understanding proper procedures.
  • Conduct effective pre-op to RTE standards.
  • Consistently titrate correctly.
  • Replace gaskets as needed.
  • Perform daily pre-op inspections and ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Follow SOPs and maintain GMPs, sanitary conditions, and product quality.
  • Adhere to safety policies, report unsafe conditions.
  • Work weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Education and Experience Required:

  • No prior experience or training needed.

Preferred Skills and Experience:

  • Prior manufacturing and sanitation experience preferred.
  • Ability to troubleshoot minor mechanical issues.
  • Must obtain and maintain a pallet jack license; forklift experience preferred.
  • Basic reading, writing, and arithmetic skills.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Ability to lift and carry 50 lbs safely.
  • Ability to work independently or in a team.
  • Self-motivated, willing to seek guidance.
  • Open to change, adaptable.
  • Ability to work in challenging environments (cold, wet, noisy, dusty, humid).
  • Good hand-eye coordination.
  • Physical ability to stand, ascend/descend stairs, bend, and reach during shifts.
