Location Description
Wakefield is one of the largest production facilities within Michael Foods. We serve as a flex plant and are able to produce everything from a whole pasteurized egg to liquid, dried, hardboiled, and curds.
Responsibilities
Position Summary
This position is responsible for overall equipment cleanliness and sanitation of the assigned department area. The role requires compliance with safety work rules at all times and reinforcing safety as a core value. Ensures all policies, procedures, and activities related to food safety and quality are followed to reduce product and process variability.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Responsible for overall equipment cleanliness and sanitation of the department area.
- Perform daily, weekly, and monthly master sanitation schedules.
- Follow daily production start-up procedures.
- Cross-train in sanitation jobs.
- Report equipment or mechanical problems.
- Use team efforts when inspecting areas.
- Follow plant goals proactively.
- Reference the CP Manual for sanitation questions.
- Handle chemicals such as caustics, acids, quats, bleach, and peracetic with proper procedures.
- Conduct effective pre-op to RTE standards.
- Consistently titrate correctly.
- Replace gaskets as needed.
- Perform daily pre-op inspections.
- Ensure rooms comply with regulations.
- Follow SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures).
- Adhere to safe work practices, GMPs, and maintain sanitary conditions to ensure product quality.
- Report conditions that may affect food safety, quality, or safety.
- Maintain a safe and healthy workplace by following safety policies.
- Work weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed.
- Ensure regulatory compliance at all times.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education and Experience Required
- No prior experience or training necessary.
Preferred Education, Experience, and Skills
- Prior manufacturing and/or sanitation experience preferred.
- Ability to troubleshoot minor mechanical issues.
- Must obtain and maintain a pallet jack license; forklift experience preferred.
- Ability to read and understand instructions, memos, and communicate effectively.
- Basic math skills.
- Apply common sense to carry out instructions.
- Open and honest communication skills.
- Maintain positive relationships and work effectively with others.
- Capable of lifting and carrying 50 lbs safely.
- Ability to work independently or in a team.
- Self-motivated, willing to ask questions, seek guidance.
- Responsible behavior at work.
- Open to change and adaptable.
- Ability to work in cold, wet, noisy, dusty, and humid environments.
- Work around cleaning solutions safely.
- Good hand-eye coordination.
- Stand for most of the shift, ascend/descend stairs, bend, stoop, reach.
