Location Description

Wakefield is one of the largest production facilities within Michael Foods. We serve as a flex plant capable of producing everything from a whole pasteurized egg to liquid, dried, hardboiled, and curds.

Responsibilities
Position Summary

This position is responsible for the overall equipment cleanliness and sanitation of the assigned department area. It also involves complying with safety work rules at all times, reinforcing safety as a core value, and ensuring all policies related to food safety and quality are followed to reduce product and process variability.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Responsible for overall equipment cleanliness and sanitation of the department area.
  • Perform daily, weekly, and monthly master sanitation schedules.
  • Follow daily production start-up procedures.
  • Cross-train in sanitation jobs.
  • Report equipment or mechanical problems.
  • Participate in area inspections with team efforts.
  • Follow plant goals proactively.
  • Reference the CP Manual for sanitation program questions.
  • Handle chemicals (caustics, acids, quats, bleach, peracetic) safely and knowledgeably.
  • Conduct effective pre-operation checks to RTE standards.
  • Consistently perform correct titrations.
  • Replace gaskets as needed.
  • Perform daily pre-op inspections and ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Follow SOPs and maintain GMPs, sanitary conditions, and product quality.
  • Adhere to safety policies, report unsafe conditions, and maintain a safe workplace.
  • Work weekends, holidays, and overtime as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education and Experience Required
  • No prior experience or training necessary.
Preferred Education, Experience, and Skills
  • Prior manufacturing or sanitation experience preferred.
  • Ability to troubleshoot minor mechanical issues.
  • Must obtain and maintain a pallet jack license; forklift experience is a plus.
  • Basic reading, writing, and arithmetic skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to lift and carry 50 lbs safely.
  • Ability to work independently or in a team, and adapt to change.
  • Comfortable working in cold, wet, noisy, dusty, humid environments, and around cleaning solutions.
  • Good hand-eye coordination and physical stamina to stand and move most of the shift.
