The City of Winchester, Virginia Local Government is seeking a dedicated refuse collection worker to service residential and business areas, load cans into refuse trucks and operate packer equipment. The role requires physical stamina and adherence to safety protocols.

Candidates must meet the education requirement of completing ninth grade and demonstrate ability to read, understand and follow English instructions.

Qualifications

• Education and/or Experience: Any combination of education and experience equivalent to completion of ninth grade.
• Language Skills: Ability to read and comprehend; ability to speak, understand, and follow specific oral instructions, and communicate effectively using correct English.
• Physical Requirements: Continuous heavy manual work at a rapid pace; requires moderate physical effort with occasional heavy weight handling (over 75 pounds).

• Directs traffic and guides truck operator in congested areas.

Requirements

Physical Requirements: Continuous heavy manual work at a rapid pace. Requires moderate physical effort working regularly with light weight materials and occasionally with heavy weight materials (over 75 pounds) including but not limited to walking, talking, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, bending, crouching, lifting, hoisted, pushing, and pulling.
