The City of Charleston is seeking a diligent refuse and recyclables collector. You will load cans, bags, and items from assigned routes into the collection vehicle, operate compacting equipment, and ensure proper disposal at designated sites.
Work hours are 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Tuesday through Friday, with additional shifts including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed to meet departmental goals. Candidates should have a high school diploma or GED and a commitment to safety and teamwork.
Picks up and dumps refuse or recyclable materials from containers into designated collection truck.
This position will work a designated schedule established by the Department Head. Typical work hours will be 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Tuesday through Friday. It is also expected this position will work other hours including nights, weekends and/or holidays as necessary or requested in order to fulfill the City's vision and/or to accomplish departmental goals.

High School Diploma or GED. Previous experience performing similar duties desired.
