Stock feed, bedding, and laboratory supplies including personnel protective equipment. Contribute to the quality animal care program that supports the research and teaching at WashU. This position may require work on weekends and holidays.# **Job Description****Primary Duties & Responsibilities:*** Conducts and documents general cleaning and housekeeping of support spaces and unoccupied holding rooms including washing walls, floors, equipment, air vents, sinks, doors, door frames, in accordance with departmental SOPs and in accordance with guidelines and regulations of the Animal Welfare Act and the Public Health Service.* Observes and supports good health and safety practices regarding the use of chemicals and heavy equipment such as floor machines, pallet jacks and motorized equipment handling large heavy equipment.* Reports promptly any equipment problems to supervisor or manager.* Receives, processes, labels and rotates shipments of animal feed, beddings and other supplies.* Transports animal cages, water bottles, feed and bedding supplies within the animal facilities.* Fills clean animal cages with proper amount of bedding and fills clean water bottles.* Performs additional duties as required by supervisor/manager/department. **Working Conditions:**Job Location/Working Conditions:* Requires extensive safety training.* Stockroom or warehouse.* Alternative work schedules.* Exposure to chemicals.* High noise environment.* Requires protective devices.* Dust, dirt, grease or other disagreeable elements.* Exposure to moving machinery.Physical Effort:* Typically standing or walking.* Typically bending, crouching, stooping.* Frequent lifting (30 lbs. or more).Equipment:* Simple hand tools.* Heavy equipment (buffers, mowers, forklift, etc.).The above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work performed by people assigned to this classification.
