- Position: Sanitation Technician
- Location: Ryan Rd & I-94, Oak Creek, WI
- Shift: 1st Shift, 6:00 PM - 6:00 AM
- Schedule: Monday - Thursday
- Starting Pay: $20.25/hour + $1 shift differential for night shift
- Reports To: Sanitation Supervisor

Job Summary
The Sanitation Technician plays a critical role in maintaining a clean, safe, and food-safe manufacturing environment. This position is responsible for cleaning and sanitizing equipment, production areas, offices, and facility grounds while ensuring compliance with company policies and federal and state sanitation regulations.
The ideal candidate takes pride in maintaining high sanitation standards, demonstrates attention to detail, and is committed to supporting food safety and quality initiatives. This role requires the ability to work independently, follow established sanitation procedures, safely operate cleaning equipment and powered industrial vehicles, and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement.
Essential Duties
- Perform all duties related to the cleaning and sanitation of the facility and production equipment.
- Inspect equipment and facility conditions to ensure compliance with federal, state, and company sanitation standards.
- Clean equipment and inspect working components to ensure readiness for production operations.
- Maintain work areas in a manner that prevents damage to equipment, machinery, and facility property.
- Identify and report unsanitary conditions, food safety concerns, or sanitation issues to management and production personnel.
- Clean office areas and other facility spaces requiring sanitation services.
- Recommend improvements to equipment, plant layout, lighting, or work practices to enhance sanitation effectiveness and product quality.
- Safely operate equipment for elevated cleaning activities.
- Follow all food safety, quality, and Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) requirements.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
Requirements Include
- Ability to test and monitor cleaning chemicals for proper titration strength.
- Forklift certification, or the ability to successfully obtain certification.
- Ability to safely operate and maintain hand tools, floor scrubbers, buffers, and other sanitation equipment.
- Ability to read, interpret, and follow operating procedures, manuals, and work instructions.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to read and use measuring tools, including tape measures, feeler gauges, and micrometers.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to food safety and sanitation standards.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Work Environment
This position is performed in a food manufacturing environment with frequent temperature changes. Unrestricted visual and hearing abilities are required to ensure the safety of all employees. The position regularly requires lifting up to 40 pounds.
Personal protective equipment (PPE) is required and provided by Thrive Freeze Dry.
Food Safety Requirements

- Hold yourself and others accountable to food safety and sanitation standards by communicating any food safety incidents, observations, or opportunities for improvement.
- In the absence of a Lead, serve as a backup resource to help ensure all food safety, quality objectives, and SQF system requirements are met.

- Follow GMP requirements related to food-contact packaging and employee responsibilities.
- Support Thrive Freeze Dry's food safety, food defense, quality objectives, and SQF system requirements.
