Business Unit Overview

Wakefield is one of the largest production facilities within Michael Foods. The plant is a flex facility capable of producing a range of egg products, including whole pasteurized eggs, liquid, dried, hard‑boiled, and curds.

Location Description

Wakefield plant – large production facility enabling flexible manufacturing of a variety of egg products.

Responsibilities

POSITION SUMMARY: This position is responsible for overall equipment cleanliness and sanitation in the assigned department area.

This position is required to comply with safety work rules and reinforce safety as a core value. The employee ensures that all policies, procedures and activities related to food safety and quality are followed to reduce product and process variability.

  • Maintain overall equipment cleanliness and sanitation of the department.
  • Perform daily, weekly, and monthly master sanitation schedules.
  • Follow daily production start‑up procedures.
  • Cross‑train in sanitation duties.
  • Report equipment or mechanical problems.
  • Inspect area and utilize team efforts.
  • Adhere to plant goals without prompting.
  • Refer to the CP Manual for sanitation program questions.
  • Apply chemical handling procedures for caustics, acids, quats, bleach, and peracetic acid.
  • Conduct effective pre‑op to RTE standards.
  • Consistently titrate correctly.
  • Replace gaskets as needed.
  • Perform daily pre‑op inspections.
  • Ensure the room complies with regulations.
  • Follow SOPs and maintain sanitary conditions.
  • Adhere to safe work practices, GMPs, and ensure product quality.
  • Report conditions or practices that may adversely affect food safety, quality, or personnel safety.
  • Maintain a safe and healthy workplace by following all safety policies and procedures.
  • Work weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance at all times.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Education and Experience Required: No prior experience or training necessary.

Preferred Education, Experience and Skills:

  • Prior manufacturing and/or sanitation experience preferred.
  • Ability to troubleshoot minor mechanical issues.
  • Must obtain and maintain a company pallet jack license; forklift experience preferred.
  • Read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Write simple correspondence.
  • Present information effectively in one‑on‑one and small group contexts.
  • Add and subtract two‑digit numbers.
  • Apply common sense to carry out written, oral, or diagram instructions.
  • Demonstrate open and honest communication.
  • Maintain positive interpersonal relationships and work effectively with others.
  • Safely lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Work independently or as part of a team as required.
  • Self‑motivated and willing to ask questions and seek direction.
  • Display responsible behavior at work.
  • Open to change.
  • Work in cold, wet, noisy, dusty, and humid environments.
  • Work around required cleaning solutions.
  • Have good hand‑eye coordination.
  • Stand on hard surfaces most of the shift and maneuver stairs, bend, stoop, or crouch as needed.
