Business Unit Overview

8th Avenue Food & Provisions is a growing organization made up of businesses that produce and sell quality products including pasta, peanut butter, granola, and fruit and nut trail mixes to retail, foodservice and ingredient customers. The company was formed in October 2018 through a combination of Post Holdings’ private brands businesses and is owned by Post Holdings and funds affiliated with Thomas H. Lee Partners, L.P. (“THL”), a private equity firm.


Responsibilities

Wage: $16.50+ depending on experience

All shifts available:

1st shift: Sunday-Thursday, 6a-2:30p
2nd shift: Monday-Friday, 2:00p-10:30p
Differential for 2nd: $1.00/hr

Position Summary:

Our 8th Avenue Sanitation staff are responsible for maintaining Food Safety through the cleaning of company equipment and facilities in food production and packaging areas within the guidelines of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) as well as Company & Food Industry Best Practices and the Golden Rules of Safety. Employees will work as part of a team assigned to clean designated production equipment and facilities.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Ensure all assigned interior and exterior food production surfaces are cleaned per daily responsibilities and according to the Master Sanitation Schedule and company procedures.
  2. Serve as a backup for machine/equipment cleaning, as needed. Perform key tasks according to SOPs, including: disassembly, cleaning, sanitizing, and reassembling of equipment.
  3. Perform HACCP responsibilities including environmental swabbing and testing (ATP, Salmonella, Listeria).
  4. Follow Quality and Food Safety standards by role modeling Good Manufacturing Practices, adhering to safety and food safety standards and procedures, and practicing good individual personal hygiene.
  5. Follow all safety procedures and policies and report any unsafe or unsanitary conditions immediately to the supervisor on duty.
  6. Maintain daily reports, logs, and records according to standard operating procedures, processes, and company expectations.
  7. Other duties, as assigned.

Education & Experience Required:

  1. High school diploma or GED equivalent from an accredited institution.
  2. Must be able to work weekends, holidays, and overtime, as needed.

Preferred Education, Experience, and Skills:

  1. Previous sanitation experience in a food manufacturing or medical facility.
  2. Previous experience operating powered industrial trucks (PIT).
  3. Must be able to work in a team environment.
  4. Must be able to follow written methods, paying close attention to details.
  5. Must be able to follow specific work direction and adjust as necessary to accomplish the job.
  6. Must be able to maintain legible & accurate records / paperwork as required.
  7. Must have skills to properly explain equipment, product quality, or production issues to Maintenance, QA, or other Production Personnel during pre-shift meetings, at shift hand off, and during your shift. This may involve communicating in problem solving events or meetings.

Physical Requirements:
Qualified applicants must be able to perform the following physical job requirements, with or without reasonable accommodation:

  1. Must be able to lift to 55 pounds repeatedly throughout the shift.
  2. Must be able to reach, grasp, and make fast, repeated movements of fingers, hands, and wrists throughout the shift.
  3. Must be able to perform work at or above shoulder height for short periods of time throughout the shift.
  4. Must be able to push, pull, bend, stretch, twist, and/or reach throughout shift.
  5. Must be able to distinguish between sounds, such as forklift horns, fire alarms, machine signals, etc.
  6. Must be able to work in hot, humid, and cold manufacturing environment.
  7. Must be comfortable working in dusty environments.
  8. Must be able to stand and walk for entirety of shift (8 hours).
  9. Must be able to sit at a workstation for extended periods of time.
  10. Must be comfortable climbing up and down stairs/ladders throughout the shift.
