Job summary

Versova in Harpster, OH is seeking a Sanitation Technician to maintain cleanliness, biosecurity, and operational readiness in our processing facilities. You will perform daily cleaning, sanitize equipment, and assist with basic preventive maintenance to support safe, high-quality egg production.

The role requires physical stamina, ability to lift up to 50 pounds, and strict adherence to food safety and safety protocols. Weekend/holiday availability is expected.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED and/or related experience.
• Experience in sanitation or food production preferred.
• Knowledge of Lockout/Tagout safety procedures is a plus.
• Bilingual in Spanish and English is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Assist in packaging and stacking eggs during production hours.
• Clean machines and surroundings using approved procedures (LOTO).
• Sanitize processing areas with high-pressure hoses and cleaners.
• Transport waste and maintain clean work zones.
• Follow biosecurity and sanitation protocols closely.
• Perform daily and deep-cleaning tasks as assigned.
• Conduct basic preventive maintenance checks on equipment.
• Identify and report potential maintenance issues to supervisors.
• Adhere to all safety, food safety, and animal welfare standards.

Job Summary

As a Sanitation Technician, you will play a critical role in maintaining the cleanliness, biosecurity, and operational efficiency of our processing facilities. Your efforts directly support our mission to produce safe, high-quality eggs and ensure compliance with food safety standards. This role is essential to maintaining daily operations, preparing the facility for continuous production, and performing basic preventive maintenance tasks.

Essential Job Functions

• Assist in the packaging and stacking of eggs during production hours
• Clean processing machines and surrounding areas during downtime using approved safety procedures (e.g., Lockout/Tagout)
• Sanitize processing areas using high-pressure water hoses and approved cleaning chemicals
• Transport waste to disposal areas and maintain cleanliness of work zones
• Follow biosecurity and sanitation protocols strictly
• Perform daily and deep-cleaning tasks as assigned
• Conduct basic preventive maintenance checks and tasks on equipment
• Identify and report potential maintenance issues to supervisors
• Comply with all company policies, including food safety, safety, and animal welfare standards
• Other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)

• Familiarity with sanitation procedures and cleaning chemicals
• Basic mechanical aptitude to clean, reset, and perform minor maintenance on equipment

The work environment primarily consists of indoor activities within a food processing plant. Employees can expect exposure to wet and humid conditions, as well as various cleaning chemicals used in sanitation processes. The job involves regular physical activities such as standing, walking, bending, and lifting throughout the workday. To ensure safety, the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) may be required, including gloves, eye protection, and waterproof gear. Additionally, the role occasionally involves working with basic maintenance tools and equipment as part of preventive maintenance tasks and minor repairs.
