Job summary

Confidential in Orange, CT is seeking an experienced Sanitation Supervisor to oversee overnight sanitation operations at a food manufacturing facility. You will lead a team of 8–10 Sanitors, ensure food safety and sanitation standards, and maintain a safe, compliant and efficient work environment.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3+ years of sanitation lead or supervisory experience in a food manufacturing environment.
  • Fundamental knowledge of industrial sanitation theory, CIP methods, chemistry verification techniques, and ATP testing.
  • Intermediate knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, and sanitary production practices.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee overnight sanitation operations and lead a team of 8–10 Sanitors.
  • Verify sanitation work using established methods including ATP testing.
  • Coordinate with production, maintenance and QA to meet facility requirements.
  • Train and coach staff on sanitation procedures, food safety, chemical handling, and safety standards.
  • Review sanitation work for compliance with food safety standards and take corrective actions.
  • Draw samples for testing, escalate issues as needed, and ensure proper equipment usage.
  • Ensure color-coded tools and proper chemical handling during sanitation.
  • Operate cleaning equipment to remove impurities from processing equipment.
  • Monitor chemical usage and report needs for supplies.
  • Document time worked and assist with end-of-shift timekeeping.
  • Maintain a safe workplace by following health and safety procedures including PPE and LOTO.

A confidential employer in the food manufacturing sanitation industry is seeking an experienced Sanitation Supervisor to oversee overnight sanitation operations at a facility in Orange, Connecticut. This role is responsible for managing the facility sanitation process, leading a team of approximately 8–10 Sanitors, ensuring food safety and sanitation standards are met, and maintaining a safe, compliant, and efficient work environment.

This role is responsible for managing the facility sanitation process, leading a team of approximately 8–10 Sanitors, ensuring food safety and sanitation standards are met, and maintaining a safe, compliant, and efficient work environment.

Responsibilities
  • Manage overnight sanitation operations for the facility and provide direct leadership to a team of approximately 8–10 Sanitors.
  • Verify the work of Sanitors by following established sanitation verification and pathogen testing methods, including ATP procedures.
  • Interact with customer production, maintenance, and quality control personnel as needed to ensure sanitation services and deliverables are completed according to facility requirements.
  • Train, coach, and direct Sanitors on sanitation procedures, food safety requirements, chemical handling, equipment use, and workplace safety standards.
  • Review sanitation work throughout the shift and perform or assist with sanitation duties as needed to ensure work is completed properly and in accordance with established food safety standards.
  • Draw samples for testing analysis, follow pathogen testing procedures, take appropriate corrective action, and escalat e testing or correction issues as needed.
  • Ensure that Sanitors use correct color code equipment and tools throughout the sanitation process.
  • Operate cleaning equipment to wash and remove impurities from food processing equipment.
  • Monitor the use of sanitation chemicals and notify the Sanitation Supervisor when additional cleaning materials or supplies are needed.
  • Accurately record time worked and review timekeeping at the end of each shift.
  • Maintain a safe working environment by following established workplace health and safety procedures, including personal protective equipment usage, Lock Out/Tag Out processes, and HAZCOM programs.
  • Promptly report any health and safety incidents to Sanitation Site Supervisor or Area HR Specialist pursuant to Company policies.
  • Provide coverage for the Sanitation Site Supervisor when the Sanitation Site Supervisor is unavailable or absent from the worksite.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of 3+ years of sanitation lead, or supervisory experience in a food manufacturing or food processing environment.
  • Technical Training or Knowledge: Fundamental knowledge of industrial sanitation theory, CIP methods, chemistry verification techniques, and ATP testing.
  • Professional Training or Knowledge: Intermediate knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the sanitary production or processing of food products.
  • Dependable, respectful, and motivated.
  • Proficient oral and written communication skills needed to understand and explain concepts relating to essential job functions.
  • Proficient time management skills needed to complete assigned tasks in a timely manner.
  • Ability to understand and apply fundamental food safety standards, including GMP, SQF, BRC, HACCP, SSOPs, and quality control processes.
  • Organized, detail-oriented, and able to work independently or as part of a team with a positive attitude.
  • Willing to learn and attend classes or training regarding industry and company processes.
Physical Requirements

The position is 25% seated work, 75% standing, walking, and moving. Employee may occasionally bend, kneel, and squat and must be able to lift and move up to 50 pounds.

Pay range and compensation package

Compensation: $80,000–$90,000 annually, based on experience
