Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; a Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Microbiology, or a related field is a plus
  • 5+ years of experience in a food manufacturing or sanitation environment preferred
  • Familiarity with food safety standards (GMPs, SSOPs, HACCP, SQF) preferred
  • Strong leadership skills with a track record of training and developing a team
  • Excellent time management and the ability to consistently meet deadlines
  • Solid understanding of sanitation chemicals, concentrations, and application methods
  • Ability to safely operate sanitation equipment (pressure washers, foamers, scrubbers, and similar tools)
  • Comfortable navigating sanitation tracking systems or software (e.g., CMMS or sanitation logs)

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage sanitation processes that maintain and continuously improve cleanliness, food safety, and operational efficiency
  • Supervise and support a team of sanitation personnel, providing hands-on guidance, training, and oversight
  • Develop, implement, and monitor sanitation schedules so all equipment and facility areas are properly cleaned and sanitized
  • Get to the root cause of contamination issues and help the team fix them for good
  • Coordinate sanitation activities to minimize disruption to production while keeping compliance on track
  • Ensure the proper use, handling, and storage of cleaning chemicals in line with safety and regulatory guidelines
  • Keep accurate documentation of sanitation activities, schedules, chemical usage, and verification records
  • Partner with production, quality, and leadership teams across shifts to keep sanitation effective and on schedule
  • Jump in with hands-on support on the production floor whenever it's needed
  • Support environmental monitoring programs and corrective actions
