The Sanitation Supervisor is responsible for leading the sanitation team to ensure all areas of the food manufacturing facility are clean, safe, and compliant with all food safety and sanitation regulations. This role is critical in maintaining a hygienic production environment that meets company standards and regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise daily sanitation operations including scheduling, assigning tasks, and monitoring performance of sanitation staff.

  • Ensure proper cleaning and sanitizing of equipment, production lines, floors, walls, and other facility areas according to the Master Sanitation Schedule (MSS).

  • Verify compliance with all safety, quality, and food safety procedures including GMPs, SSOPs, and HACCP.

  • Conduct pre-operational inspections and environmental swabbing to confirm sanitation effectiveness.

  • Train and coach team members on cleaning procedures, safe chemical handling, and use of PPE.

  • Maintain accurate documentation and sanitation records (checklists, logs, reports).

  • Troubleshoot sanitation-related issues and work with QA, maintenance, and production teams to resolve them.

  • Ensure proper inventory and storage of sanitation supplies and chemicals.

  • Participate in audits (internal, third-party, customer) and lead corrective actions as needed.

  • Promote a culture of safety, teamwork, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of sanitation experience in a food manufacturing environment.

  • 2+ years of supervisory or lead experience strongly preferred.

  • Strong understanding of sanitation principles, chemical safety, and regulatory compliance.

  • Knowledge of GMPs, SSOPs, HACCP, and food safety programs.

  • Ability to lead and motivate a team in a fast-paced, physically demanding environment.

  • Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.

  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including nights or weekends if needed.

  • Bilingual (English/Spanish)

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 50 lbs.

  • Work in hot, cold, wet, or noisy environments as required.

  • Use of PPE (gloves, goggles, masks, etc.) when handling chemicals or cleaning equipment.
