Job summary

Hy-Vee Inc. is seeking a Sanitation Clerk in the Warehouse department. The role focuses on deep cleaning, sanitation procedures, and safe handling of chemicals with attention to detail and minimal supervision.

You will support a fast-paced center, cooperate with shifts, and uphold HAACP and GMP practices while maintaining a positive, customer-focused work environment.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent education preferred.
• Must be able to read and understand simple math measurements.
• Experience with sanitation and safety practices is a plus.

General Function: The individual in this position will be involved with deep cleaning and sanitation of the distribution center. The right individual for this position will have attention to detail and the ability to work with minimal direct supervision.

Accountable and Reports To: Sanitation Supervisor

Positions that Report to you: None

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

• Ensure correct chemicals and procedures followed.
• Ability to work with other shift members to complete cleaning assignments.
• Work safely with chemicals and ensure correct personal protective equipment is used.
• Adheres to company policies and individual center guidelines.
• Reports to work when scheduled and on time.
• Maintains a positive attitude; creates an atmosphere of friendliness and fun through flexibility and teamwork.
• Follows all food safety procedures.
• Assist in all set up and clean up responsibilities.

Secondary Duties and Responsibilities

• Ability to work under time constraints and be flexible in hours worked.
• Monitors and implements HAACP and Good Manufacturing Practices at all times.
• Performs other job related duties and special projects as required.
• Smiles and greets employees in a friendly manner, whether the encounter takes place in the employee's designated department or elsewhere in the center.
• Works from a written or verbal list.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Worker Characteristics

• Must have the ability to read and understand simple math measurements.

Education and Experience

High school graduate or equivalent education preferred.

Physical Requirements

Must be physically able to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally; exert up to 20 pounds of force frequently; and exert up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

Must be able to be on feet (standing and walking) for 6-8 hours a day.

Visual requirements include vision from less than 20 inches to more than 20 feet with or without correction, depth perception, color vision, and field of vision.

Must be able to perform the following physical activities: Climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, standing, walking, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions.

Working Conditions

This is a fast paced work environment and may be required to work in a 38 degree environment. This position involves exposure to dirt, dust, noise, temperature extremes, dampness, vibrations, and chemicals/solvents.
