Job summary

Bluegrass-Ingredients-Inc. in Glasgow, KY is hiring for a Full-Time Sanitation role. You will perform plant cleaning, follow GMPs, use cleaning equipment, and maintain safety and hygiene standards in a fast-paced environment.

The position requires physical stamina, ability to work at heights, good handwriting, punctuality, and a positive attitude toward coworkers. Training in safety and allergen procedures provided; excellent opportunities for growth in a manufacturing setting.

Qualifications

  • Must be neat, clean, and have legible handwriting.
  • Must be punctual.
  • Must have good manual dexterity.
  • Must present a positive attitude toward co-workers and job.
  • Must be capable of working from heights > 10 feet.
  • Must do other work as assigned.

Responsibilities

  • Performs plant cleaning as prescribed by the Master Sanitation Schedule. Maintains general housekeeping in all areas of plant.
  • Utilizes powered cleaning equipment that may include powered lifts, scissors lifts, power washers, foam applicators, steamers, automatic compactors, motors, and various nonmechanized equipment.
  • Demonstrates the ability to operate equipment such as floor jacks, trash compactor, and vacuum cleaner, floor scrubber in a safe and knowledgeable manner.
  • Follows instructions for safe lifting and carrying various sizes, shapes, and weight of objects; identifies/reports defective equipment; reports all job-related injuries to management.
  • Works independently, with no direct supervision in a high efficiency level.
  • Learns and performs proper Allergen Elimination Procedure.
  • Practices and adheres to appropriate safety and hygiene guidelines/procedures for safe housekeeping and personal protection.
  • Follows all applicable GMP's for the area in which he/she is assigned. Maintains and uses appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) in accordance with OSHA, plant defined GMP's, or when directed by a supervisor.
  • Responsible for identifying and addressing any food safety hazards or quality threats. If a food safety hazard or quality threat is identified, the employee is to notify their supervisor, a member of Quality, or a member of the Leadership Team. Employees are empowered to immediately address a food safety hazard or quality threat if they have the ability.
  • Responsible for attending all required safety and food safety training.
  • Participates in all necessary safety training, team development programs, and plant initiatives.
  • Reads (Safety Data Sheets) information and preparation and use chemical cleaning agents in a manner consistent with the manufacturer's recommendations.
  • Assists departments in spill containment caused by various events.
  • Assists pest control technicians by noting and communicating pest activity.
  • Removes product debris to trash.
  • Lock-out Tag-out and BBP (bloodborne pathogens) trained.
  • Supports and participates Continuous Improvement initiatives including 5S (sort, set, shine, standardize, and sustain).
  • Mixes and handles chemical concentrates. 19) May perform other duties as required.

OTHER PHYSICAL REQUIRMENTS:

Physical Demands: Standing, walking, sitting, bending, stooping, pushing, pulling, kneeling, reaching, twisting, lifting, climbing ladders and stairs, and carrying up to 85 pounds.

Environmental Demands: Noise levels above 85 DBA. Hot and cold working conditions.

Job Hazards: Caustics, acids, chlorine, ammonia, high pressure steam and water, hot equipment, trucks forklifts, conveyers, mechanical hazards, slick or wet floors, confined space entry, elevated work areas on platforms, and equipment above 10 feet.
