Job description

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Administrative Duties
  • Assist the Sanitation Supervisor in delegating tasks and cleaning assignments to Sanitation Technicians
  • Coordinate and collaborate with other departments in planning cleaning assignments
  • Ensure that the sanitation team meets daily shift goals and performance metrics
  • Conduct daily inventory and order supplies for cleaning and sanitation
  • Provide guidance and training for sanitation technicians
  • Inspect areas for sanitary repairs, improvements, or preventative maintenance
  • Assist in environmental incidents, cleaning investigations, biohazard, and chemical spill cleaning
  • Actively participate in the training of new department employees
  • Participate in continuous improvement projects as assigned by the supervisor or lead
Cleaning Assignments – cGMP Production Areas
  • Perform cleaning of Production workstations, including but not limited to:
  • Zone 1 – Product Contact Parts
  • Zone 2 – Equipment and Non-Product Contact Parts
  • Zone 3 – Walls, Ceilings, Vents, Floors, and Drains
  • Carry out all daily duties as stated in the Master Sanitation Schedule
  • Clean and sanitize all common areas such as hallways, lockers, sanitation rooms, dust collector rooms, drains, docking areas, ovens, ceiling vents, and tiles
  • Deep clean production workstations as requested
  • Remove and dispose of trash and clean garbage bins
  • Assist production personnel with changeovers and workstation cleaning
  • Operate equipment to assist with sanitation: electric pallet jack, forklift, man‑lift, floor scrubbers, power washers, explosion‑proof vacuums, dust collectors, and other appropriate machinery
  • Check soap titrations and water temperature in tote washers
  • Replenish soap, sanitizers, paper towels, and other personal protective equipment
  • Identify opportunities for quality and sanitation improvement
  • Perform sanitation‑related tasks such as scrubbing and mopping floors, walls, and equipment; removing trash; using proper chemicals and equipment
  • Complete daily task documentation
  • Report all repairs and maintenance issues throughout the facility on time
  • Support Production and Quality teams through sanitation efforts and initiatives
  • Comply with safety, cGMP, SOP, and SQF requirements
Cleaning Assignments – Non‑Production and Warehouse Areas
  • Perform all daily duties as stated in the cleaning schedule
  • Clean and sanitize all common areas such as cafeteria, offices, restrooms, entrances, stairwells, lockers, and conference rooms
  • Wash walls, ceilings, and woodwork; wash windows, door panels, and sills
  • Clean washrooms, including sinks, toilets, and floors; replenish bathroom supplies
  • Clean warehouse areas, including loading docks, rails, racks, restrooms, and offices
  • Deep clean offices, hallways, and other common areas
  • Remove and dispose of trash and clean garbage bins
  • Operate equipment: electric pallet jack, forklift, man‑lift, floor scrubbers, power washers, and vacuums
  • Replenish soap and sanitizers
  • Identify opportunities for quality and sanitation improvement
  • Perform sanitation‑related tasks such as scrubbing, mopping, vacuuming, and removing trash
  • Complete daily documentation
  • Report all repairs and maintenance issues throughout the facility
  • Support Production and Quality teams through sanitation efforts and initiatives
  • Comply with safety, cGMP, SOP, and SQF requirements

Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED minimum
  • More than five years’ experience as a Sanitation Technician, Production Operator, or Warehouse Operator in a Food Manufacturing Production or Warehouse environment
  • Licensed to drive moving/PIT equipment such as electric pallet jacks, forklifts, and man‑lifts
  • Prior leadership experience preferred
  • Ability to read and interpret documents (MSDS sheets, safety rules, SOPs)
  • Ability to fill out sanitation/production paperwork accurately
  • Good verbal communication skills
  • Mathematical ability: add, subtract, multiply, divide using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
  • Ability to operate powered industrial equipment (electric pallet jack, forklift, man‑lift)
  • Strong teamwork skills and a positive, adaptable attitude
    Work in a fast‑paced environment while following all company and safety policies
Reasoning Ability
  • Apply common sense to carry out detailed written or oral instructions
  • Deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations
Physical Demands

Relevant physical tasks include standing, walking, ascending/descending stairs, reaching with hands and arms, overhead reaching, bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling.

Lift, move, slide, raise, and/or place the following:

  • Up to 30 lb. force up to 25 ft. and then pull to the original position
  • Up to 33 lb. from 5 in. off the ground, raise to 47 in. and return to original position
  • Up to 50 lb. for 3 ft. at waist level; lift bag/box onto the side and return to the original position
  • Up to 60 lb. from 31‑in.‑high shelf and 2‑hand carry for up to 5 ft. and then return to 31‑in. surface
Work Environment

The work environment involves moving mechanical parts, exposure to herbal aromas, dust, and airborne particles that may be allergens or irritants. The job may be moderately loud, and hearing protection may be required in some areas.

All areas of the manufacturing facilities, including direct exposure to ingredients (powders and liquids), mixes, equipment, and packaging.
