Job summary

Cheney Brothers, Inc. is seeking a sanitation associate to maintain cleanliness and hygiene across production, warehouse, and office areas.

You will perform cleaning, sanitation of processing rooms, and facilitate safe operations in a production environment with temperature variations. The role requires 1–3 years in food handling or processing, adherence to SOPs/GMPs, and the ability to follow written or oral instructions.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED or equivalent.
• 1–3 years related experience in food handling or processing preferred.
• Familiarity with SQF facility preferred.
• Ability to understand and follow written, oral or diagram instructions.
• Attention to detail and good work ethics.
• Basic math skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform cleaning and sanitation of food processing rooms using equipment in a thorough and safe manner.
• Daily duties include cleaning and sanitizing surfaces and processing equipment in production (machinery, tables, racks, etc.), sweeping, mopping, breaking down boxes, and trash handling.
• Launder items as required.
• Pull pallets and clean product bays on rotating basis.
• Operate cleaning systems/equipment and cleaning chemicals as trained.
• Maintain facility grounds and dumpster areas as required.
• Maintain a safe, clean, organized work area throughout the facility and common areas.
• May clean offices, break rooms, restrooms, test kitchens, warehouse, etc.
• Adhere to SOPs, GMPs, USDA/FDA/SQF procedures and food safety requirements.
• Keep accurate records of sanitation duties per regulatory requirements.
• Communicate with Quality Control Supervisor about any non-compliant conditions.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management.
• Work in mostly refrigerated environments and varying temperatures.",

Position Purpose

Responsible for maintaining cleanliness & hygiene in various environments, including production areas, warehouse & offices.

Major Functional Responsibilities

• Perform cleaning and sanitation of food processing rooms using equipment in a thorough & safe manner.
• Daily duties include but are not limited to cleaning, sanitizing surfaces & sanitizing processing equipment in production, such as machinery, tables, sheet pans, racks, scoops, etc., sweeping, mopping, breaking down boxes, picking up cardboard/debris/meat scraps, emptying & preparing trash bins, and cleaning trash areas, etc.
• Launder items as required.
• Pulls pallets and cleans product bays on rotating basis.
• Operate industrial cleaning & sanitation systems/equipment and cleaning chemicals as trained and specified.
• Maintain facility grounds and dumpster areas as required.
• Maintain a safe, clean, organized work area throughout the facility and common areas.
• May clean other areas of the facility to include offices, break rooms, restrooms, test kitchens, warehouse, etc.
• Adhere to all company SOPs, GMPs, USDA or FDA, SQF procedures, etc. and work consistently with all food safety, quality and sanitation requirements.
• Ensure accurate record keeping/documents of performed sanitation duties according to company and regulatory requirements, and able to meet minimum production sanitation requirements efficiently & accurately.
• Communicate with Quality Control Supervisor regarding any out of compliance/questionable sanitation conditions.
• Perform all other duties as assigned that are necessary, required or directed by management.
• Able to work in a mostly refrigerated environment but must also be able to work in varying temperatures per department between -10 F to 80F +
• Performs other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications

Required Education: High School Diploma/GED or Equivalent Experience

Work Experience: 1 - 3 years related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience, preferably food handling or processing

• Familiarity or experience in SQF facility preferred
• Willing to perform all tasks when and were assigned and as changing situations arise.
• Ability to understand to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.
• Ability to perform repeated tasks with attention to detail.
• Ability to perform basic math skills
• Maintain professional, positive attitude and good work ethics
