Job summary

Heartland Food Products Group in Indianapolis, IN is seeking a Sanitation Operator to perform and oversee facility and equipment sanitizations in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. You will implement Master Sanitation Schedule procedures and maintain cleanliness throughout production areas.

Responsibilities include detailed sanitation of machinery, safe handling of cleaning chemicals, and adherence to safety and quality control programs to help achieve safety, quality, production and cost

Qualifications

• Knowledge of food safety and food security guidelines including good manufacturing practices and HACCP.
• Knowledge of cleaning solutions.
• Thorough knowledge of the cleaning and sanitation methods and equipment used.
• Keep and maintain various records.
• Ability to diagnose problems, plan and organize appropriate corrective action.
• Ability to exercise independent initiative.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers, supervisors, and other company employees.
• Must have ability to understand oral and written instructions in English.
• Must have good job performance and attendance records.

• Ensure proper use and maintenance of floor scrubber, steam cleaner, and sanitation supplies
• Performs according to OSHA and Heartland Sweetener Quality Control program safety procedures
• Performs related duties as required

Scope:

The Sanitation Operator will perform and oversee a variety of facility and equipment sanitizations. Work requires independent initiative, knowledge of good manufacturing practices, and experience in working with cleaning chemicals. They will establish proficiency in one of the four production departments with cleaning skills in accordance with daily MSS (Master Sanitation Schedule) and display proficiencies relating to Standard Operating Procedures in assigned department. They will ensure that safety, quality, production and cost KPI’s are achieved.

Essential Duties and Key Responsibilities:

• Perform detailed sanitization of production machinery and the facility

Physical Demands:

• Must be able to work extended hours, such as daily overtime and an occasional weekend
