Job summary

Paycom - ATS is seeking a Sanitation Lead to drive day-to-day cleaning and sanitation programs in a food manufacturing environment. The role coordinates with QA Compliance and management, leading sanitation staff across shifts including CIP, COP, and manual scrubbing.

The position requires Certified Sanitarian status, HACCP knowledge, and strong leadership. Responsibilities include program management, recordkeeping, CAPA, pest control coordination, and effective chemical handling.

Qualifications

  • Must have leadership and supervisory experience in sanitation on a production floor.
  • Experience implementing and maintaining QA policies for ingredients, packaging and finished products.
  • Knowledge of regulatory food safety requirements (HACCP, OSHA, FDA, USDA, EPA).

Responsibilities

  • Oversees daily sanitation operations and staffing across shifts.
  • Assigns duties to sanitation and production staff.
  • Conducts pre-op and post-op inspections and cleaning verifications/validation.
  • Maintains sanitation records, databases and daily reports.
  • Maintains Master Sanitation Schedule and SSOPs with SQF Practitioner.
  • Leads CAPA initiatives and corrective actions.
  • Manages chemical budget and storage; liaises with contractors and pest control.
  • Provides training and leadership to staff on sanitation procedures.

Job description

This position will lead overall day-to-day cleaning and sanitizing system practices. This includes leading the implementation and ongoing program management of corporate Quality Assurance policies for ingredients, packaging materials, finished products, and other related initiatives. This position’s hours are flexible based on the sanitation and cleaning cycles of the organization.This position reports to the QA Compliance Manager. The Sanitation technician directly reports to this position while production staff indirectly report to this position on the topics of cleanliness.This position performsThe technical liaison between the plant, management, and the chemical supplierProvides leadership and direction to the entire plant on all shifts including receiving, production, pasteurization, and packaging in cleaning processes including CIP, COP, and manual scrubbingEssential Job Functions & ResponsibilitiesOversees and manages the daily sanitation operationsAssign duties to sanitation and production staffPerform Pre-op & Post-op inspectionsPerform cleaning verification and validation programs to prove the effectiveness of the Sanitation program.·EnvironmentalPerform Environmental testing and chemical titrations.·DocumentationMaintain and update all sanitation databases, records and generate daily reports.Maintain Master Sanitation ScheduleEnhance the Master Sanitation Schedule and SSOPs in conjunction with the SQF PractitionerManage and evaluate the Sanitation StaffPerformance management and employee development, etc.Provide leadership and training to personnel performing sanitation procedures & chemical handling.Coordinate Corrective Action/Preventive Action (CAPA) InitiativesChemical ManagementDevelop and manage the department’s chemical budget.Maintain and organize chemical storage and sanitation supply areas.Act as liaison between personnel and outside contractors.Pest ControlManage Pest Control ProgramWork Closely with the Pest Control CompanyApprove chemical usage to align with Organic CertificationExperience working in a food manufacturing environmentExperience in manufacturing and supervisory roleCertified SanitarianKnowledge of HACCP – Microbiology – Sanitation – Chemical Safety – Pest Control – and Quality SystemsUnderstand and comply with government regulations relating to OSHA, FDA, USDA, ODA and EPAKnowledge of Pasteurization and HTST equipmentProven ability to deliver resultsKnowledge of the Dairy industry and sanitationExcellent interpersonal and organizational skillsAbility to articulate effectively: both verbal and writingHighly personable, trustworthyOpen to learn every single dayProficient in operating a computer and associate applications (MS Office)Ability to motivate staff about the importance of quality and sanitation.Ability to update and develop detailed spreadsheets and preset to staffFood Safety is everyone’s job.
