Job summary

Fortrex is seeking an experienced Lead Person to supervise and enhance sanitation processes across a plant area, ensuring a spotless and safe working environment. The role requires leadership and hands-on involvement in multiple sanitation tasks.

You will oversee crew activities, coordinate with management, and ensure adherence to QA and USDA standards while maintaining clear communication with team members. This position is based on-site in a fast-paced food processing setting.

Qualifications

  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Leadership and decision-making skills are required.
  • 6 or more months of experience in sanitation and/or food processing industry.
  • Ability to take direction from manager and be accountable for own actions.
  • Safety awareness and attention to detail; ability to work in extreme temperature fluctuations.

Responsibilities

  • Lead sanitation crew within a defined area of the plant and support the training team as needed.
  • Coordinate with management, team members, customers, and regulatory agencies to ensure sanitation procedures are followed.
  • Maintain open communications with all team members in the plant.
  • Meet with the Supervisor regularly to address issues, missing parts, and equipment.
  • Clean and sanitize equipment and workspace in the assigned area.
  • Ensure tasks meet QA and USDA standards and inspect equipment for cleanliness before pre-op inspections.
  • Handle chemicals within specified limits and monitor PPE usage.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Description

What You Will Do: The Lead Person provides directions for the sanitation crew within a certain area of the plant. This position is trained in multiple jobs, can assist the training team members, and provide support as requested by the supervisor in that area.

Job Duties Include
  • Work cooperatively with management, team members, customers, and regulatory agencies to ensure sanitation procedures are followed.
  • Maintain open communications with all team members in the plant.
  • Meet with the Supervisor on a regular basis to ensure all issues are being properly handled and addressed, including missing or damaged parts and equipment.
  • Clean and sanitize equipment and workspace in a designated area of the plant.
  • Ensure team members in assigned area are completing job tasks to QA and USDA standards. Inspect equipment to ensure all areas are clean for pre-op inspections.
  • Handle chemicals to ensure usage is within specified limits.
  • Monitor and provide personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Other duties as assigned.
Your Must Haves
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.

Our Environment

This position would involve you to be in a wet, hot, and or cold environment, while wearing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). Shift may vary depending on location.
