Job summary

Carl Buddig & Company is seeking a Sanitation associate to clean production equipment and facility to meet food safety, quality, and safety standards in an Illinois plant. You will sanitize surfaces, support audits, and maintain clean grounds while following GMP/SQF guidelines.

The role requires ability to work nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed, and involves operating cleaning equipment, PPE use, and potential forklift/walkie training. Benefits are included.

Qualifications

  • H.S. Diploma or GED desirable but not required.
  • Sense of urgency and attention to accuracy and detail.
  • Communicate orally and in writing with people at all organizational levels.
  • Manage a variety of tasks simultaneously with rapidly changing priorities.
  • Forklift (stand-up) and walkie rider experience a plus.
  • Demonstrated ability to work productively and effectively as part of a team.

Responsibilities

  • Comply with food safety and quality assurance standards (GMP, HACCP, FSI, SQF, etc.).
  • Maintain plant cleanliness to prepare plant to pass USDA/SQF and other sanitation audits.
  • Sanitize all surfaces nightly after production runs.
  • Interior infrastructure cleaning of production and non-production areas.
  • Clean office areas, hallways, locker rooms, and break rooms, including trash removal, as required.
  • Follow all Safety Guidelines and use appropriate PPE; assist with identification and reporting of safety issues and equipment requiring attention.
  • Use required chemicals as indicated in work instructions.
  • Work in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Clean frameworks of machines, overhead rafters, and pipework; deep clean specified areas; tear down and set up equipment per master sanitation schedule.
  • Prevent product contamination and adulteration by following GMP and Food Safety.
  • Follow proper procedures to prevent equipment damage and assure equipment is cleaned properly.
  • Operate equipment to maintain clean floors throughout building and production areas, removing dirt and debris.
  • Verify effectiveness of cleaning.
  • Participate in pre-operation inspections of equipment after cleaning.
  • Attend required training.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, organized work area throughout the facility and common areas.
  • Use handheld walkie talkies, forklift, and lifts (must be trained).
  • Perform other duties as assigned, including housekeeping and/or janitorial tasks, trash/waste removal, and grounds keeping activities.

Working Conditions
  • Work with water (cold and hot) and potential for getting wet due to cleaning items and hoses.
  • Must work in temperatures of 40 degrees or lower.
  • Must stand for more than 10 hours per day.
  • Must bend, stoop, and squat for housekeeping duties and other miscellaneous responsibilities.
  • Must be willing to work nights, weekends, holidays, and/or overtime when needed.
  • Manufacturing plant environment with frequent standing, walking, lifting, pushing, pulling up to 50 pounds unassisted; bending, crouching, stooping, reaching, climbing stairs and ladders; work area may be slippery and uneven, including some elevated surfaces.
  • Varied temperatures (hot/cold/humid).
Pay Rate

Pay rate for this position is $20.00 per hour.
