Job summary

Smithfield Foods in Nebraska seeks a sanitation worker to keep our distribution facilities clean and compliant with safety and food-safety standards. You will follow schedules, use proper cleaning agents, and assist with maintaining equipment and work areas.

Ideal candidates will have experience in sanitation, follow written and verbal instructions, and be available for scheduled hours which may include overtime. We value reliability, teamwork, and adherence to our Core Four values.

Qualifications

  • Experience in sanitation or similar role in a distribution environment.
  • Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions.
  • Follow established personal safety guidelines and policies.
  • Follow established food safety guidelines and policies.
  • Be available to work scheduled hours, which may include mandatory overtime, depending upon demands.

Responsibilities

  • Review the cleaning schedule and required supplies at the start of each shift.
  • Scrape material from areas as needed.
  • Apply cleaning and sanitizing solutions; scrub surfaces as needed.
  • Complete all required tasks and responsibilities; report low supplies to the supervisor.
  • May perform other duties as assigned.

Core Responsibilities
  • Promptly at the start of the shift review the cleaning schedule and supplies required to perform the work scheduled and ensure the facility is clean.
  • Scrape material from areas if needed.
  • Obtain and apply the appropriate cleaning and sanitizing solution, apply foam to the surfaces, scrub surfaces if needed.
  • Completion of all required tasks and responsibilities.
  • If supplies are running low report it to the supervisor.
