Job summary

Maola Local Dairies is seeking a Sanitation worker for the 2nd shift at our Newport News, VA plant. The role runs 12:00pm–8:30pm with overtime, weekends and holidays as needed. The position pays $18.00 per hour and is on-site, offering competitive benefits and a strong local dairy-focused culture.

Responsibilities include cleaning general areas, operating cleaning tools, and maintaining GMP/safety practices. High school diploma or GED is required, and manufacturing experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain cleanliness of plant grounds and equipment according to safety policies.

  • Clean production areas, machines, tanks, and associated areas.
  • Restock supplies and remove trash, keeping work areas safe and orderly.
  • Identify hazards and report to supervision; assist with special projects as needed.

SUMMARY

The Sanitation worker is responsible for the cleanliness and maintenance of the Plant grounds. Required to properly use various chemicals and cleaning agents, as well as specialized cleaning equipment following all safety policies and procedures.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Appropriately utilizes assigned cleaning equipment and chemicals, including power scrubbers and foamers, to clean and sanitize general areas within Plant facility.
  • Ability to operate electric pallet jacks and bailing machines.
  • Performs heavy cleaning duties including washing walls, ceilings, floors, drains, pipes, production equipment, and other areas assigned by supervisor.
  • Maintains cleanliness of all machines, equipment, tanks, and assigned areas.
  • Stocks and maintains designated areas with supplies; fills dispensers as needed.
  • Responsible for removing trash/recycling, debris, and obstructions ensuring the cleanliness and safety of the Plant.
  • Monitors for potential hazards and notifies supervisor or manager of any deficiencies or issues as they arise. Safely and quickly works to eliminate any occurrences as directed by leadership.
  • Follows GMPs and all safety and health policies and regulations; wears proper PPE.
  • May assist with special projects and completes other duties as assigned.
  • Ability to work weekends, holidays, and overtime.
  • Perform basic math skills.

BASIC REQUIREMENTS

  • High school diploma, General Education Degree (GED), or International Education Equivalent.
  • Manufacturing experience preferred.
