Job summary

Maola Local Dairies is seeking a Sanitation Worker in Newport News, VA to ensure cleanliness and maintenance of the plant grounds and production areas. You will follow GMPs and safety policies, using cleaning equipment and basic dairy-processing facilities, with overtime, weekends, and holidays required.

The role offers hourly pay of $18.00 per hour, with retention bonuses up to $3,500 and staged rewards after 90 days and six months. Benefits and opportunities for career growth are provided.

Responsibilities

• Clean and sanitize general areas using cleaning equipment and chemicals.
• Operate electric pallet jacks and bailing machines.
• Perform heavy cleaning of walls, ceilings, floors, drains, and production equipment.
• Maintain cleanliness of machines, equipment, and tanks.
• Stock supplies and refill dispensers as needed.
• Remove trash and debris; ensure cleanliness and safety.
• Monitor for hazards and report issues; assist leadership to address.
• Follow GMPs and PPE requirements.
• May assist with special projects.
• Ability to work weekends, holidays, and overtime.
• Perform basic math.

Summary

The Sanitation worker is responsible for the cleanliness and maintenance of the Plant grounds. Required to properly use various chemicals and cleaning agents, as well as specialized cleaning equipment following all safety policies and procedures.

• Appropriately utilizes assigned cleaning equipment and chemicals, including power scrubbers and foamers, to clean and sanitize general areas within Plant facility.
• Ability to operate electric pallet jacks and bailing machines.
• Performs heavy cleaning duties including washing walls, ceilings, floors, drains, pipes, production equipment, and other areas assigned by supervisor.
• Maintains cleanliness of all machines, equipment, tanks, and assigned areas.
• Stocks and maintains designated areas with supplies; fills dispensers as needed.
• Responsible for removing trash/recycling, debris, and obstructions ensuring the cleanliness and safety of the Plant.
• Monitors for potential hazards and notifies supervisor or manager of any deficiencies or issues as they arise. Safely and quickly works to eliminate any occurrences as directed by leadership.
• Follows GMPs and all safety and health policies and regulations; wears proper PPE.
• May assist with special projects and completes other duties as assigned.
• Ability to work weekends, holidays, and overtime.
• Perform basic math skills.

Basic Requirements

• High school diploma, General Education Degree (GED), or International Education Equivalent.
• Manufacturing experience preferred.
