A leading engineering firm is looking for a Sanitary Engineering Site Inspector responsible for supporting FEMA Public Assistance recovery initiatives. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in engineering support, particularly in site inspection. You will analyze reports, validate project scopes, and provide technical advisement during arbitration. Willingness to deploy to various locations with short notice is essential. Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field with 10 years of experience or bachelor's with 15 years of experience.
  • 1-2 years of site inspection experience on large commercial construction projects.
  • United States citizenship.
  • United States citizenship.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain FEMA Public Trust clearance and keep FEMA trainings current.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills.
  • Willingness to deploy to any Zone 2 location with 24–48 hour notice after task order award.
  • Prepared for 6–12 month deployments and comfortable using a smartphone.
  • Ability to work independently, in team, and manage stress under tight deadlines.

Job Overview

Sanitary Engineering Site Inspectors support FEMA Public Assistance recovery initiatives by providing engineering support to state, tribal, territorial, local governments and private non‑profits. The role requires professional and non‑professional personnel working quickly to assist those affected by natural or man‑made disasters.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review and analyze architectural/engineering reports and designs or as‑built plans.
  • Document analysis in writing and develop scopes of work, incorporating relevant codes and standards.
  • Validate applicant‑provided scopes of work to meet required codes and standards.
  • Develop and review cost estimates for projects.
  • Advise FEMA staff on the technical validity of claims under FEMA’s arbitration process.
  • When arbitration hearings occur, testify as an expert witness on FEMA’s behalf.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field with 10 years of experience and Professional Engineer (PE) registration, OR bachelor’s with 15 years of experience.
  • 1–2 years of site inspection experience on large commercial construction projects.
  • 1–2 years of site inspection on restoration work for roads, bridges, water facilities, buildings, utilities, debris removal, schools, churches, parks, or recreation centers.
  • United States citizenship.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain FEMA Public Trust clearance and keep FEMA specific trainings current.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills.
  • Willingness to deploy to any Zone 2 location with 24–48 hour notice after task order award.
  • Prepared for 6–12 month deployments and comfortable using a smartphone.
  • Ability to work independently, in team, and manage stress under tight deadlines.
Desired (but not mandatory)
  • At least 5 years of FEMA Public Assistance experience.
  • Experience managing site inspectors.
  • Knowledge of FEMA Public Assistance program and policy.
  • Training in the new Public Assistance delivery model.
  • Active FEMA badge.
