Job summary

Stormont Vail Health seeks a Forensic Examiner (RN/APN/PA) to provide emergency forensic exams for sexual assault victims within the Emergency Department. You will work with law enforcement, advocates, and legal staff to ensure program principles are followed.

You will complete SANE orientation on hire, maintain clinical competence with yearly competencies, and collaborate across teams to support victims and case work.

Qualifications

• Must complete Stormont Vail SANE orientation on hire.
• Bachelor's degree in Nursing is required; BSN preferred.
• 1 year nursing experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Explain the SANE/SART program and its role in the community.
• Contribute to professional growth of self and other SANEs.
• Provide information about the medical-legal exam to investigators and prosecutors.
• Maintain contact with SANE leadership for at least one year after termination and respond to subpoenas.
• Consult with hospital and law enforcement records department.
• Maintain equipment and supplies in examination room after use.
• Perform and document forensic interview and assessment per policy standards.
• Scan legal documentation into EMR; testify in court as needed.
