Job summary

Valmont Industries in Salina, Kansas, is seeking a Sandblaster/Painter to join the Production department. You will apply Below Grade Coatings to protect steel structures and ensure surface prep aligns with coating specs.

Ideal candidates have at least six months of sand/shot blasting experience, can read blueprints, and operate blasting equipment safely in a noisy, high-temperature environment; physical stamina and a detail-focused mindset are essential.

Qualifications

• Minimum six months experience of sand or shot blasting in a metals production operation.
• Skilled and proficient in setting and operating sandblasting equipment.
• Understanding of blasting material and its effect on surfaces to meet finish for coating.
• Knowledge of EPA containment requirements and ability to work in noisy, high‑temperature conditions.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform repetitive motions.

Responsibilities

• Shovels or pours abrasives such as sand, grit, or shot into machine hopper.
• Adjusts valves on equipment to regulate pressure and composition of abrasive mixture.
• Starts equipment that directs blast over surface of parts.
• Directs nozzle over surface of large parts until adequately abraded.
• Reads and interprets blueprints and verifies conformance to specifications.
