Job summary

The State of Iowa, Bureau of Enforcement, Auditing and Records, MVD in Ankeny, is seeking an Administrative Support Assistant 3 to support driving records processing, appeals review, and sanction administration. This role emphasizes accurate record keeping and customer-focused service in a fast-paced public sector environment.

Working hours are Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–4:30 PM with a flexible schedule option. Benefits include health and dental, retirement IPERS, and paid time off.

Qualifications

  • Applicants must meet at least one of the following minimum requirements to qualify for positions in this job classification: two years of full-time work experience in general office, clerical, data entry/processing, or related work; or a total of two years of education and/or full-time experience where thirty semester hours equals one year of experience; or current, continuous state executive branch experience meeting the specified conditions.

Responsibilities

  • Review and process driving record inquiries from county attorneys, insurance carriers, courts, and other authorized sources.
  • Evaluate appeals and hearing requests related to driving privileges.
  • Process OWI-related actions including Implied Consent violations and court-ordered sanctions.
  • Manage suspensions and reinstatements for non-payment of fines, SR22/SR26 filings, and financial responsibility compliance.
  • Review and update CDL medical certificates and ensure compliance with state and federal requirements.
  • Administer Driver Improvement Program actions and apply required sanctions.
  • Determine eligibility for reinstatement of driving privileges and provide guidance to customers and stakeholders.
  • Maintain accurate driving records in accordance with Iowa Code, Administrative Rules, and federal MCSIA regulations.

Our Motor Vehicle Division is looking to fill an Administrative Support Assistant 3 position. As a member of our team, you'll play a vital role in maintaining safe mobility for every traveler in our state by providing upbeat, quality, and professional customer service and meeting customer needs in all program areas of the office. This is done by reviewing applications, requesting personal information from motor vehicle records, and maintaining records of current Driver's Privacy Protection Act agreements.

  2. A total of two years of education and/or full-time experience (as described in number one), where thirty semester hours of accredited college or university coursework in any field equals one year of full-time experience.
  3. Current, continuous experience in the state executive branch that includes six months of full-time work as an Administrative Support Assistant 2 or eighteen months of full-time work as an Administrative Support Assistant 1.
