Job summary

SilverRide in the United States is seeking compassionate Driver Companions to provide door-through-door assisted-ride services for seniors and clients with mobility needs. You’ll drive, assist passengers, and ensure safe, respectful transportation while representing the company’s commitment to personalized service.

Applicants must be 21+, hold a valid US driver's license with a clean record, pass background checks and required screenings, and be willing to undergo fingerprinting, drug testing,

Qualifications

• Must be 21 years or older.
• Must pass Federal Transit Authority and state drug and alcohol tests prior to employment.
• Pass criminal background check and fingerprinting.
• Agree to random drug and alcohol testing while employed.
• No DUI/DWI in past two years.
• No felonies or violence charges.
• Not listed on the National Sex Offender Registry.
• Vaccinations (Covid and flu) required.
• CPR certification.
• Meet credentialing requirements related to senior care, ADA, physical transfers, safety.
• Agree to accommodate riders with service animals.
• Four-door sedan or low SUV (2013 or newer) with 5–8 passenger seats.
• Current vehicle registration and proof of insurance.
• Vehicle must pass inspection as required by state.
• Vehicle clean with no smell of smoke or drugs.

Responsibilities

About SilverRide

SilverRide is an award-winning, fully licensed TNC operator that facilitates assisted-ride services to a broad range of individuals and organizations who need support during their trip. We’ve provided over a million rides for seniors, people living with disabilities, and others since our founding in 2007.

We help clients get things done, socialize and have enriching life experiences. This is accomplished via door-through-door service, helping folks from inside their homes to the vehicle and then from the vehicle to their destination. This can include taking them to the doctor, grocery shopping, a senior center, for a walk or anywhere else they want to go. What’s a Driver Companion?

We’re looking for reliable, compassionate, friendly ride-share drivers who not only enjoy driving, meeting new people and earning money, but also take pride in providing help to those who need a little extra assistance. Most of our clients need minimal physical assistance, but they count on SilverRide for the guarantee of assistance if they do need it, which gives them peace of mind.

We’re small, like a family, and staff our office such that we get to know you. We believe in providing quality, personalized service to our clients and value our drivers as partners in this endeavor.

Application Requirements

• Age 21 or older

• A valid U.S. driver’s license with a clean driving record; proof will be required. A driving record check will be completed and reviewed before you’er authorized to join the network. No DUI/DWI are allowed; no more than 2 moving violation in the past 2 years.

• You must pass Federal Transit Authority and state drug and alcohol tests prior to employment and agree to random testing while you are active in SilverRide’s driver network.

• A willingness to be fingerprinted and pass a criminal background check

• No felonies or charges involving violence

• Not on the National Sex Offender Registry

• Covid and influenza vaccinations (at least two doses of the Covid vaccine are required)

• CPR certification

• Meet SilverRide’s credentialing requirements related to the knowledge and proficiency on the senior condition, ADA, physical transfers, safety and more. SilverRide’s network of drivers provides service to riders for transit agencies, healthcare providers and senior service organizations that can have heavy compliance and credentialing requirements. SilverRide is an expert in these requirements and can assist you in filling in any gaps you may have so that these driving opportunities are available to you.

• Drivers must agree to take passengers with service animals. Even if a driver has allergies, the law requires that the driver take the rider and service animal.

• 4-door sedan or low SUV that is 2013 or newer with 5 to 8 passenger seats including driver.

• Current, valid vehicle registration.

• Proof of insurance in your name.

• Your vehicle will have to pass an inspection as required by your state.

• Vehicles need to be clean and not have any smell of smoke or drugs (marijuana).
