POSITION SUMMARY :

The Electronic Filing Specialist assists with all steps in the lifecycle of an electronic filing, including but not limited to advance communication with case teams ahead of the filing deadline, researching rules and requirements, reviewing documents, submitting compliant documents in a timely manner, and coordinating any necessary courtesy copies.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Complete electronic filing of documents in federal and state courts and agencies in a timely and compliant manner, including emailing proposed orders to chambers as needed.
  • Research court rules and electronic filing protocols to ensure adherence to filing requirements and provide guidance to attorneys and staff on these matters.
  • Review documents for compliance with local rules and requirements; works with Docket Counsel - West and Director of Docket regarding any complex issues as it relates to requirements.
  • Communicate with courts clerks and agencies as necessary to verify current rules and procedures and build working relationships with court personnel.
  • Confirm all confidential material has been properly redacted from documents.
  • Coordinate the distribution of courtesy copies as needed.
  • Research changes in e-filing procedures for relevant courts and communicates these changes to Docket Counsel-West.
  • Assist Docket Counsel – West with maintenance of e-filing accounts and databases.
  • Assist Docket Counsel – West with the development of electronic filing training materials for attorneys and staff.
  • Assist Docket Counsel – West with special projects as needed.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS :

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
  • 7 + years of e-filing experience in a law firm setting required.
  • This role is fully remote but must reside in a commutable distance to a California firm office location.
  • KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS :

  • Prior filing experience with CM / ECF and ACMS systems in all CA federal District courts and 9 th Circuit Court of Appeals required. Prior filing experience in DC, IL, NY, and TX preferred. Bankruptcy filing experience a plus.
  • Prior filing experience in all levels of CA state courts, i.e. Superior Courts, Appellate Courts, Supreme Court, required. Experience with OneLegal and / or FirstLegal required. Familiarity with Tyler based e-filing systems, CaseAnywhere, TrueFiling, and File & ServeXpress a plus.

  • CompuLaw experience a plus.

  • Flexibility to work extended hours as needed, often with minimal notice.

    SALARY

    Los Angeles based applicants only : The target annual salary range for this role is currently $87,000 - $102,000 based on a regular, full-time schedule. The amount of compensation offered will be determined by several factors, including but not limited to experience, qualifications, market data and internal equity. To tal compensation includes a comprehensive healthcare benefits package, yearly retirement contribution, and may include an annual discretionary merit bonus.

    San Francisco based applicants only : The target annual salary range for this role is currently $98,000 - $114,000 based on a regular, full-time schedule. The amount of compensation offered will be determined by several factors, including but not limited to experience, qualifications, market data and internal equity. To tal compensation includes a comprehensive healthcare benefits package, yearly retirement contribution, and may include an annual discretionary merit bonus.

    Silicon Valley based applicants only : The target annual salary range for this role is currently $100,000 - $117,000 based on a regular, full-time schedule. The amount of compensation offered will be determined by several factors, including but not limited to experience, qualifications, market data and internal equity. To tal compensation includes a comprehensive healthcare benefits package, yearly retirement contribution, and may include an annual discretionary merit bonus.
