Sr. Quality Technician

Basic Activity

This procedure defines and details the position requirements, function, reporting relationships, authority, responsibilities, duties, and measurements of performance for the position of Quality Inspector.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

The following are the minimum requirements to fill this position:

  • High School graduate or equivalent.
  • Ability to read, write, speak and understand English. Spanish is a plus.
  • Computer skills, including MS Office Excel and Word.
  • 3-5 years in a Quality Inspector role.
  • Strong knowledge of blueprint reading, and inspection methods.
  • Strong verbal communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Attention to detail and ability to deal with complexity.
  • Capable of working in a customer-focused, deadline-driven environment while maintaining a positive attitude.
FUNCTION

The Quality Inspector is responsible for inspection and documentation of materials, products, and processes. This is a non-supervisory, hourly, non-exempt position.

Reporting relationships

The Quality Inspector reports to the Quality Manager and has no one reporting to him/her.

AUTHORITY

The Quality Inspector has the authority to:

  • Withhold approval of non-conforming materials, products, or processes.
  • Release approved material to manufacturing.
  • Release approved product for shipment.
  • Provide “Certificates of Compliance” for approved products.
Duties
  • Follow all documented procedures and instructions.
  • Perform inspections on materials, products, and processes per procedures and instructions.
  • Clearly and accurately document the results of inspections on materials, products, and processes per procedures and instructions.
  • Notify the Quality Manager or their representative of any failure to meet specifications of materials, products, or processes.
  • Notify the Quality Manager or their representative of any missing or conflicting specification in the Work Order Packet.
  • Computer data entry for the following Quality Logs:
    • Receiving/Receiving Inspection
    • Non-conforming Material Report Log
    • Non-conforming Material Reports
    • First Article Inspection Log
    • Quality Control Inspection Log
  • Provide “Approval” for acceptable materials, products, and processes.
  • File and maintain records of inspections, audits, and retains.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Education
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Trade school or college experience is a plus.

This position requires access or potential access to Unclassified Naval Nuclear Propulsion Information, which is Not Releasable to Foreign Nationals (NOFORN) data. Therefore, to meet NOFORN requirement, you will have to provide proof of US Citizenship and attest that you do not have dual citizenship.

This position includes access or potential access to export-controlled data. Therefore, you will need to qualify as a U.S. Person, which is defined as a U.S. Citizen, a U.S. Permanent Resident, or a political asylee in compliance with International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) or the Export Administration Regulations (EAR).
