Job summary

Samsung Austin Semiconductor is seeking a Network Strategy Engineer to design, deploy, and sustain LAN/WAN, datacenter, and cloud networking fabrics. You will lead architectures, budgets, and roadmaps, balancing performance and cost for critical workloads.

You’ll oversee routers, firewalls, switches, VPNs, and related hardware, guiding the team toward scalable, secure network solutions in a high‑availability environment.

Qualifications

• BS in Computer Science or Computer Engineering; MS preferred.
• Certification in Cisco, Palo Alto, Arista, F5/A10 or similar networking tech.
• At least 8 years designing, implementing, and supporting network infrastructure.
• Strong understanding of protocols: BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, EVPN, VXLAN.

Responsibilities

• Architect, plan, and maintain LAN/WAN/datacenter/cloud networks.
• Provide technical oversight to operations on solution proposals.
• Develop multi-year capacity budgets for platforms.
• Lead projects to upgrade network infrastructure hardware/software.
• Define requirements, architectures, and designs to align with business goals.
• Evaluate emerging networking tech and craft long-term roadmaps.

Position Summary

In your role as a Network Strategy Engineer, you'll design, deploy, and sustain the semiconductor‑centric LAN, WAN, datacenter, and cloud networking fabric. They own every layer of the network stack—routers, firewalls, switches, VPN appliances, cabling, and associated hardware—delivering high‑availability, security, and scalability that support rigorous silicon‑fabrication and research workloads. You'll also provide technical leadership to the operations team, reviewing design, development, and implementation proposals to keep day‑to‑day activities in sync with long‑term strategy. They construct multi‑year and annual capacity budgets, balancing performance, cost, and risk across all platforms. Also, you'll continually evaluate emerging networking technologies and develop a forward‑looking roadmap that aligns evolving capabilities with business objectives, ensuring the organization remains poised for next‑generation innovation.

Role and Responsibilities

• Architect, plan, and maintain the semiconductor‑environment LAN, WAN, datacenter, and cloud infrastructures—including routers, firewalls, switches, VPN appliances, cabling, and related hardware.
• Provide technical oversight to the operation team on the design, development, and implementation of solution proposals.
• Develop multi‑year and annual capacity budgets for all platforms.
• Lead projects that expand, replace, or upgrade network infrastructure, hardware, and software.
• Define network requirements, establish architectural frameworks, and specify detailed designs and standards that align with business objectives.
• Investigate emerging technologies, evaluate their potential impact, and craft a long‑term technology roadmap.

Skills and Qualifications

• BS in Computer Science or Computer Engineering; MS in Computer Science or Computer Engineering preferred.
• Certification or advanced expertise in Cisco, Palo Alto, Arista, F5 / A10, and other networking technologies.
• A minimum of 8 years of experience designing, implementing, and supporting network infrastructure in complex environments.
• A solid understanding of networking protocols and concepts such as BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, STP, VPC, HSRP, VRRP, mLACP, MLag, VRF, PBR, IPv4 Subnetting, VSS, IGMP, PIM, Anycast-RP, MSDP, 802.1x, EAP-TLS, PEAP-MSCHAPv2, TACACS+, SYSLOG, QoS, Cisco IOS and NX-OS, EVPN, Vxlan. Experience in large‑scale network design tailored for critical environments, high availability, low latency, and performance.

Salary

The current base salary range for this role is between $70,480 - $179,090. Individual base pay rates will depend on factors including duties, work location, education, skills, qualifications and experience. Total compensation for this position will include a competitive benefits package and may include participation in company incentive compensation programs, which are based on factors to include organizational and individual performance.
