Job summary

Onterris in Deer Park, TX is seeking a Full-Time Sample Receiving Technician to join our laboratory team. You will receive environmental samples, document and store them, and notify the supervisor of discrepancies. Experience with potentially hazardous conditions is a plus.

Safety and QA adherence are essential. The role runs 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday to Friday, with opportunities to assist in field sampling and daily scheduling.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Some lab experience is preferred but not required.
• Knowledge of general lab practices and lab safety.
• Able to multi-task and communicate effectively (both oral and written).
• Able to work independently and make sound decisions.
• Well organized and have an attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Receives environmental samples into the laboratory according to SOPs.
• Performs data entry of sample and test information into LIMS.
• Label sample containers, store them in appropriate locations and/or contact the proper department to inform them of short holding time and/or rush requests.
• Assists in sample bottle preparation.
• Assists in sample management/archiving and disposal.
• Assists in sample pickup or field sampling, if needed.
• Assists in the coordination of daily field sampling/pickup schedule, if needed.
• Participates in focus teams to improve efficiency.
• Comply with our Quality Assurance Program.
• Comply with our Health and Safety Plan.
• Other duties as assigned.

A Day in the Life

Sample Receiving Technicians are responsible for ensuring that samples received, documented and stored correctly. You'll be responsible for notifying the supervisor to receipt, volume, preservation, labeling, or other discrepancies that could affect the laboratory’s ability to meet the expectations of our clients. The ideal candidate will have experience in working under possibly hazardous conditions (e.g. pathogens or chemicals). You will be well-trained to maintain safety conditions and will be passionate for doing work that makes things move forward.

Our Deerpark, TX Laboratory is currently seeking a Full-Time Sample Receiving Technician to join our team.

The compensation range for this role is $20 - $22/hour, commensurate with experience, skills, and geographic location.

Schedule: 8:00am - 5:00pm Monday - Friday
